3rd night, best night of sleep so far

Post by JoeP » Thu Apr 26, 2012 6:52 am

Last night was the third night with the CPAP. it started out worrisome, couldnt get the mask adjusted quite right, ended up shutting off the machine, taking off the mask and starting over from scratch. I must have done it right the second time, fell asleep and stayed asleep. I dont think i woke up at all during the night. And I definitely didnt take part in the nightly "quadrathalon" of tossing, turning, flipping and flopping

It will be interesting to see my data and see how it compares to the previous 2 nights.

Thanks again to everyone who has shared their knowledge and advice it is appreciated by us noobs.

Yay! I'm happy for your success.

If only I had some to go along with it. After a couple weeks on the machine, I am convinced that my mask doesn't fit right. It consistently slips off my chin during the night. Wish me luck with Apria in getting a smaller mask.

Hi,

I am convinced that there is no mask that will actually fit my face. I do pretty good with the Swift LT. I have tired a dozen other masks, and even modified some of them trying to get them to work. At least the Swift does the trick for now.

In my case, I am a single income family, so I have no other options than to make this work. As a result, when the insurance company and DME got in my way, I simply went to on-line places like cpap.com, Amazon, and E-Bay. Yes, it might cost money, but I found that in some cases, I could get stuff for less than what my DME co-pay was. Net-net is that you don't have to let Apria be the reason for not getting a good night of sleep.

I got good news today! Since the DME didn't give me the size my doctor ordered, they are shipping me a new mask. They had actually documented that if I needed a smaller mask it was on them. The first mask was given to me because they didn't have the right on in stock. Imagine that, a DME that stands behind their work!
