do I need to format my sd card?
do I need to format my sd card?
I got my S9 elite last week and just downloaded Sleepyhead into my computer. I have taken the SD card out of the cpap and popped it into my computer and it says that it needs to be formatted it. Anyone know anything about this? was the DME suppose to set up my SD card? How do I know if my machine is saving anything to the card?

Re: do I need to format my sd card?
It shouldn't need formatting.
If you format it ...all the files will be erase.
Will it not let you do anything...can you get Sleepyhead to work with card as it is?

Re: do I need to format my sd card?
In my case I bought an SD card and a Portable Memory Card Reader/Writer in Staples. When I inserted the card in the S9 Elite machine it did the formatting and the recording. But the card need to inserted when you sleep (not after) if you plan to have detailed data for SleepyHead or ResScan.Joyja wrote:I got my S9 elite last week and just downloaded Sleepyhead into my computer. Portable Memory Card Reader/Writer $15
For inserting the card into a USB port in the computer
The piece on the left is just a cover. The SD card gets inserted at the right side.

Re: do I need to format my sd card?
It should work either way. I just got a new S9 Autoset and it did not come with an SD card.
I run Sleepyhead and also ResScan Software.
The S9 did not come with an SD card so.....
I took one of my SD cards I use on my digital camera and just reformatted it on my computer, to get rid of the old pictures.
Format it on a PC, not an iMAC (Apple). The S9 wants to see an FAT type format. Once formatted you can look at your results on a PC or an iMAC (I use a MAC here).
Yes, you need to put the card in the S9 before you turn it on and go to bed. Found that out on the second try (no information in the manual about doing that).
I am only on my second night with the new S9 so hopefully I am giving you good information.

Isn't there a way to format FAT on a mac? Don't have an SD card to try it in front of me. Hmmm...

Re: do I need to format my sd card?
sleepyhead says it doesn't detect any data on my card - perhaps it may be a software problem. Anyone know how I can get rescan? Maybe this software might work better

Re: do I need to format my sd card?
My guess is the files were corrupted prob by mishandling at some point. Put the SD card back in the machine (always always looking at the LCD) to see if the machine can read it.Joyja wrote:sleepyhead says it doesn't detect any data on my card - perhaps it may be a software problem. Even if you do format it you should only loose the daily data, the rest should be re-written to the card.
The first time you do anything is the hardest

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: do I need to format my sd card?
Yes, Disk Utility on the Mac gives you the option of formatting your card in MS-DOS (FAT) when you click the erase button. It can thereafter be read on both Windows and Mac, just as if it had been formatted on a Windows PC.jen4700 wrote:Isn't there a way to format FAT on a mac? Yes, I know the newer iMacs (that is what I am running here, let you format in FAT (IBM PC style) or in Apple format mode.jen4700 wrote:Isn't there a way to format FAT on a mac? Don't have an SD card to try it in front of me. Hmmm...

Re: do I need to format my sd card?
Check two things:Joyja wrote:sleepyhead doesn't detect any data on the SD card. How can I confirm that my machine is recording?
1. Make sure the little plastic slide switch on the side of the SD card is not in "Lock" mode.
2. When you plug the SD card in your S9 look at the LCD screen and verify that it says "Reading" and the hourglass is there. It will stay that way for several seconds then stop.

Re: do I need to format my sd card?
Some newer memry cards are formatted as "ntfs" and not "fat32". If its ntfs, there is no way the S9 can read it and it should complain. reformat it before there is any data on it.
