Nose Problem
Several people here have mentioned some kind of cream you can use to heal sores in your nose caused by nasal pillows. I would look it up except I think that the thread really was specifically about sores caused by nasal pillows. Hoping someone will see this and be able to answer quickly since I'm on my way to Walmart in about an hour.

Re: Nose Problem
Lansinoh I believe is the name... unless it's for a different problem.
Re: Nose Problem
I think you're referring to lanolin. Buy the Lansinoh brand as the Now brand is yellow with a greasy consistency unlike the white thicker Lansinoh. Remember it's in the Breastfeeding section of the grocery store or Amazon.
For me, Ayr which is a saline gel, did not lubricate enough for sore prevention.

Re: Nose Problem
Inside of my nose where pillow hits has been kinda sore for a few days but last night it stung like crazy. I finally got up and got some stuff I used when I was getting used to dentures and would have a few sores. Probably wasn't the best idea but it did work some.

Re: Nose Problem
I have the same problem with the bridge of my nose. I switch between a Mirage Softgel and a Swift FX and it seems to solve the problem. When I use the softgel I also wear a bridge protector, doesnt work 100% but it helps.
Re: Nose Problem
Once the sore is there you have to let it heal so put polysporin or fucidin or something with antibiotic in it. I like the polysporin that has lidocaine (pain killer).

K-Y works fine, too and doesn't leave the greasy lanolin residue. Washes clean with water. Tip: just use a very thin film.

Re: Nose Problem
Avoid petrolatum if you can--at least keep it off the silicone--
A bandage over the sore will protect your ouchie from rubbing and the mask from the petoleum jelly.

Lidocaine sounds good.

You could use this mask instead with a chinstrap (until your nose heals):

Re: Nose Problem
Like Ozziedollar, I switch off from the pillows to a nasal alternating days. I'm using Lansinoh in the nares for the pillows and on the nose bridge with the Gecko pad & Papcap. The latter makes me feel so encumbered, so I really enjoy my "pillow nights". So far I have to settle to this on/off routine.

Re: Nose Problem
Wish I could. I have tried a nasal mask before. I didn't sleep for the 3 weeks I tried it because of the panic attacks it caused. Claustophobia. I didn't even realize how claustophobic I was until the nasal mask. I even tried the hybrid which covers your mouth instead of your nose and the same thing happened. Its pillows or nothing. I have to wear a chin strip cuz I do mouth breathe when sinuses get bad.
