Nasal pillows question

Post by Merryj » Thu Mar 22, 2012 2:07 pm

I have recently started using a nasal pillow instead of my nasal mask. I get more leaks, but the instances of events has gone down. I used to have between 1 and 2.5 each night with the nasal mask. with the pillows it is usually below 1. Would the leaks hide the events or are the nasal pillows just working better?

Thanks

If the leaks are really bad (over 24 L/min) for very long it is possible that the machine cannot sense the events properly and thus it might miss reporting some events which would/could give you a falsely low AHI (maybe).

So how much is "more" leaks? That would be a good question to answer.
Is it just more than the other mask but still under 24 L/min for the most part..
or is it way over the 24 L/min line for a long time during the night?
