Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
I have my DME / RT coming out to the house tomorrow night for a mask refit. I have been having more hate than love with my Mirage Quattro of late. I have been through all the fitting tricks, mask liners, shaved off my goatee (first time in 10 years) new seal and it still starts to leak around 3 am.
tomorrow I am going to try a few of the hybrids as I liked my swift fx, but I am a mouth breather at times, tried to use a chin strap, but that did not work out. just trying to get some ideas for tomorrow as I am not meeting with my normal RT as being laid up with a broken foot I get the traveling RT for this visit.

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
I have a respcare hybrid. It has a chin flap which really helps with preventing mouth breathing and keeping my chin in the mask.
I love my hybrid but it needs an extra strap across the pillows because I have a long upper lip and a tipped up nose.

I use this mask and like it and think it's very effective but... the nasal pillows tend to start leaking on me after 5 weeks. I have started to try boiling them to see if that helps.

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
I found that I could not stop the leaks on the Liberty Mirage, so not using it at all. I had the DME order me an Innomed Hybrid, and it works!!! But you might have to special order it. But waiting was worth it for me.

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
I was in the same boat as you Dave, got very tired of the "one minute it's fine, next it's leaking everywhere Mirage Quattro". Have a deviated septum and have a hard time breathing through my nose, so thought I would ask my RT about the Liberty Hybrid Mask as well. She said, she very rarely had any patients stick with that mask as it leaks quite a bit. At that point I didn't want to chance it, so still have the love/hate relationship with the Quattro. Let us know how it works out for you though if that is the one you go with.

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
Dave the Quattro was my first mask and it beat up my face pretty bad (bridge of nose) that is why I went to the liberty hybrid. I love this mask and have had no issues. I do replace the pillows every month or so....... My DME gives me a supply every 3 months. My leaks are way low, avg 4.8, and I have a full beard. Washing my face before I put the mask on and washing the mask frequently really helps.nthis mask works great.
Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
This was my second mask and I really wanted to like it because I needed a full face mask and I liked the concept which resulted in a mask that was less obtrusive since you don't have a hard mask over your entire nose and mouth. At times it would work very well, but I would often wake up during the night with leaks coming from the nose pillows. The mouth portion sealed fine for me. I tried both medium and large size nose pillows and both would work for awhile, but rarely would they stay sealed for an entire night. I've moved on to the Quattro FX and have had much better success with it. From time to time, I'll try the Liberty for a night but still get the same results. There are many posts from people that seem to have had better luck with the Innomed Hybrid versus the ResMed Mirage Liberty. It could work for you but if you want to try it out, I'd check first to see if you can exchange for another mask if it doesn't work out for you because it's a very expensive mask.

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
I have a liberty large and a liberty small and assorted pillows. some are used some are not, but I think they would be ok if boiled (see threads about boiling pillows). Both masks are SLIGHTLY used....probably a week or less. If you want them P M me and I will send them to you for the postage. No matter how hard I tried I could not get this mask to work for me. I am doing well with my quattro F X but still hoping to find something that is smaller and that works for me just so I have a change. I would like to try the Innomed hybrid but my dme does not carry it and they have not been amenable to special orders and I just havent had the time to fight with them!

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
I tried one from the mask library which might be an option for you. Like you, love my fx but I do tend to breathe through my mouth when congested. Thought I'd see if that would work but my claustophobia didn't care for it. I thought it would be okay if it didn't block my vision but I got the same racing heart that I got with a nasal mask. Forget ffm. So I will stick with fx and chin strap and lots of humidity. I think it might be time for a new mask. Getting leaks more than I was. We'll see. Hope it works for you. I have heard the more generic hybrid seems to work better.

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
Thanks for all the replies. I had a Quattro FX very early on and could never get this mask to sea
Hopefully I can get the mask to fit as I am getting the mask fitting in my bed. they are bringing several different masks out to us. I have a pretty good DME, as we got them to combine this trip with my wife's weekly O2 tank delivery, and setting her up on yet another Pulse Ox test to see if she can use a conserver and the small O2 tanks as the D tanks are too heavy for her to walk around with.

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
I started off with nasal pillows (Opus 360) but since I open my mouth during the night not to breathe though. So then I tried the Quatro and it tore up the bridge of my nose. Next I tried the Liberty Hybrid. The LH seemed to work pretty well but I found that if I even smiled it started to leak. I never could get it to keep a good seal so I went back to the nasal pillows and tape on my mouth and I'm all good now. The LH is a good option in my opinion and if you can keep your mouth still it seems to work well.

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
I started on the FX and that didn't work. Then the Quattro and still had leaks although it was an improvement. Now I'm on the Liberty and my leaks are SO much better. I rarely wake up due to a leak anymore. Leak volumes now peak around 20 instead of 130 with the other masks. Sometimes when I feel a leak, I will pull the bottom of the mask off of my chin, open my mouth some so the bottom of my lip is touching the silicon, then reseat the mask and the problem goes away. If a pillow leaks, I have to shut off the machine to reseat them. I mostly had pillow problems when I had the small size. Now I'm on the mediums and rarely have an event with them. This mask is a winner for me.
I am going to trial the Innomed hybrid though just for a comparison.
Oh and be sure to order the strap pads from Pad A Cheek. The top straps are hard plastic and left marks on my face.

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
Other brands have different 3D facial parameters.
I can not wear any Resmed full face, because my nose (or chin) doesn't stick out far enough.
My best fit so far is my P/R Comfortgel and my P/R Full Life full face masks
Of course the Swift FX is the best; but tape, Poligrip, etc. can be just too much trouble when I'm tired.

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
One thing to say, if you buy the hybrid online and don't get it fitted, be prepared to do a lot of fidgeting to get it fitted right. With 3 different straps, 3 mouth pieces and 3 different size nasal pillows it is quite a challenge. Only after a week of trying and bouncing it, did I get my perfect fit. After taking to cpap like a duck to water I finally understood the frustrations some people went through keeping their masks on.

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks
Like others I sometimes have trouble getting the nose to seal but for me it's when I first put it on. Seems once I get it sealed it'll be good for the night. It also seals better when clean and lately it seems that a wipe with a baby wipe isn't working.
