aura rainout

got my aura 2 days ago 1 nite not to bad some leakes but nite 2 rain came at 3;30 thought i had a nose bleed.my humiedifier set at 4 cpap set at 10 need help ? masks 1 f&p 431 fullface 'leaks 2 f&p 481 nasal 'leaks 3 aura headrest ? started capa 2-17-06 maybe i will get it worked out got to hang in there some how thanks

I'm from Michigan and keep my house at 65 to combat the high energy costs. Anyway, I found when I had my humidifier at 3 I'd get rainout. Once I turned it down to 2 while using my Aura I didn't seem to have many problems. I know some people make covers for their big hose using fleece or white socks. Others use a heated hose, which seems to help. Me, I just turned down the humidifier. I find when I need it higher, due to a cold, I just deal with the rainout. I am planning on making a double-fleece cover for it as soon as I get time.

I'm one of those that gets rainout with my Aura which has 3 covers on a heated hose. And my humidifier is set on 1.

I've quit sleeping in a cold bedroom and now only get a drop or so, and it usually stays inside the pillows (not in my nose).

Since I love the Aura, I will go to any extreme to be able to use it (especially now that I've tried the Swift). The Swift works for many, and more power to them.

Yea. I have the same deal. I sleep with my window open and when it's wintertime the cold air causes rainout. If I want to avoid it I need to set the humidity at 1, which is too low for my taste. My nose starts to hurt at that level.

If you really want to eliminate rainout you need to shut the windown and keep the room warm enough. That's the simple solution.

Another possibility might be to shorten the hose on the mask. The CPAP hose attachment at the end of the mask hose IS removable and if you had the guts or other anatomical part necessary to cut off a fairly large chunk of the hose you might be able to work something out.

As I recall, the resident expert on such things is Rested Gal who has chopped up and rearranged more masks in her day than I have owned.
