I'm starting to feel much better! (not so tired!)
I'm starting to feel much better! (not so tired!)
This is day 15. For the last 3 days, i've been up in the morning.. not taking naps.. and actually feeling energy in the morning.
SO for those of you just starting, give it a few weeks. My first week was pretty bad, second week a little bit better, after that feeling MUCH better.
I also notice i'm in a much better mood during the day as well.
And i'm getting AHI between 3-6 and waking up at night with leaks on the swift fx. Just imagine how good i'm going to feel when i get the AHI and leaks down!
I also quit klonpin !

Good for you... I have not had a nap in a week... That is really something for me... I have so far been the lucky on3... only 8 days on cpap and only one "broken night" Got to get my leaks down
Re: I'm starting to feel much better! (not so tired!)
You're on the right track, for most of us it does take a while...days, weeks, even months. One also must take charge of their therapy and continually work it. Keep up the good work and good luck!
Thinking of quitting CPAP?
No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:
Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

Re: I'm starting to feel much better! (not so tired!)
I'm glad to hear of your good news. I have only been on this for two months. I can tell you, for sure, you are going to continue to feel better and better. Don't give in to the temptation to nap or not use your machine. It will become easier to live with it as you progress.
Re: I'm starting to feel much better! (not so tired!)
I got loads of encouragement from reading about experiences like yours. Great job. I'm at the point where I feel better daily! Amazing, isn't it?

Re: I'm starting to feel much better! (not so tired!)
Good! I am glad you are feeling better. Tonight will be 7 days since I started on my CPAP. So far I don't feel any different, although my AHI's are down to zero, according to my DME.

Re: I'm starting to feel much better! (not so tired!)
Congragulations, I have started CPAP therapy on 21.3 Wednesday night after Tuesday night titration. I already passed 4 days. Not so much improvement yet, I had terrible sleep in the 1st night (around 4-5 hours)but I was fine in the day. Friday was also not bad except in the early evening I had very much sleep. At weekends, I have terrible sleep feeling, I needed to nap for 2 hours with my CPAP put on.
I can sleep long hours with CPAP mask with only 1 wake up at night, but no sweating nor toilet necessity. (I had both before CPAP)
Since I am seeing this kind of good news, I understand that I need to wait and keep using CPAP with patience.
Hope to be better soon like all of you..

Re: I'm starting to feel much better! (not so tired!)
Burc,
The fact that you are not going to the bathroom at night means your body is seeing a big improvement even if you are not feeling it yet. All the bathroom trips can serve to burn out your kidneys, so, if nothing else, you are putting less wear and tear on an important set of organs. You are probably going to find that you essentially need to learn how to sleep all over again. Trust me, once you get into the groove, you will feel like a new person.

Re: I'm starting to feel much better! (not so tired!)
Glad to hear this news. I'm just over a week now, and while I've not had too much trouble sleeping after a night or two, I still have been feeling tired. I'd say that today is my best day yet though, perhaps because I had 10.5 hours the night before (maybe sleep debt just takes time to be paid). I also feel like I am not fighting the compulsion to sleep in the afternoon, but I do sometimes feel like I'm in a bit of a daze at times.
I"ll give it more time and see how I feel in a week or two. I need to follow-up with the doctor in any case. My AHIs seem to range from 2-6, mostly due to hypopnea, and it tends to be in clusters that as best as I can tell are associated with dreaming.

Re: I'm starting to feel much better! (not so tired!)
I've been on CPAP for a little over a month. I felt really tired the first 2-1/2 weeks, even though I was sleeping pretty well. Then, fairly quickly, I felt better for about a week. Lately, I've had a relapse where I'm tired now. Definately fewer bathroom pitstops at night. I'm still feeling better than I was before CPAP.
My sleep specialist said it usually takes 6 weeks to 6 months to feel better. My DME said at least a month. They said it takes time for my body to relearn how to sleep. I've had apnea for many years and my body is not used to sleeping without apneas.

As long as you keep leaks under control and follow good sleep hygene, you will keep doing better, the body enjoys O2. Jim
