Experienced hosers! Travel/Backup bipap machine help.

Post by SleepingDVader » Tue Mar 06, 2012 9:48 am

I'm in the market for a travel/backup unit and would truly appreciate a bit of veteran guidance. Presently considering trying to find a Resmed VPAP AUTO 25 AUTO-BiLEVEL, or a GoodKnight 425. I already know that a humidifier is a must for me as well. I understand that these two units are worlds apart, but both have advantages. I'd definitely be receptive to your recommendations as well. There is one other consideration that I'm aware of and that has to do with my newly found mask that I really am growing to like a lot. It's the Swift FX but the users guide for this mask states, "not compatible for use with ResMed AutoSet CS 2 and VPAP Adapt SV devices", so I consider that a restriction because this mask has changed the comfort level of my therapy dramatically. I can attest that it works great with my S9 VPAP auto bi-level machine. Thanks ahead of time for your responses.

I don't know much at all about these more complicated machines, but recently, DeVilbiss launched their new Bi-level Auto https://www.cpap.com/productpage/devilb ... level.html Thought I'd mention it in case you are interested.
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

I just got a used ResMed S8 Auto 25. I don't know anything about the other machine you mention. I can say, though, that your concern about your mask not being compatible shouldn't be an issue. As far as I can tell (after reading the clinician's manual several times), the Auto 25 isn't one of the "ResMed AutoSet CS 2 and VPAP Adapt SV devices".

Best of luck. I found my machine on Craig's List by searching in areas of the country where I had relatives or friends who could check it out and pay cash for it (then have me pay them back). Luckily it was near where my parents live.

That's great! Appreciate the information and hope you enjoy the machine. Let me know what you think of it after you've used it awhile if you don't mind. All the best.
