women with apnea
Re: women with apnea
I feel MORE feminine/sexy since I've been sleeping with Darth (my machine). Hubby loves Darth too because I actually have the energy now to ...uh.... well, you know. It's been a long journey and I'm not there yet re health and energy, but there has been a noticed improvement in many areas of my life since I met Darth.

You all are so great and supportive. Thanks. I'm looking forward to a healthier tomorrow!!
Re: women with apnea
There are a lot of women here who have sleep apnea. You are not alone. Your beauty will truly shine through once you are feeling rested and healthy instead of feeling exhausted as a norm.

Re: women with apnea
I am a woman with apnea and I am relatively young, 35. I won't call that young, but certainly not post-menopausal. My apnea was actually worse than my husband's per the numbers, and per my husband and a former roomate, I only ever snore when I am congested.
So I broke the male and snoring boundaries, plus my neck isn't over the neck measurement.
I don't care that I may not be a typical patient with apnea. What I care is that I got my machine in December and already can't imagine sleeping without it (except when I had the sinus infection, but that was another story altogether). I'm still tired because I still have a sleep debt but I am much more alert when awake and I am slowly moving toward being less tired.
Embrace your machine and mask. My machine is quiet and my Swift FX mask is really low profile.
My husband also has apnea and has been on the hose for about 5 years. We were engaged when he was diagnosed, and I still married him. Don't worry about the CPAP machine. Anyone who would acuse you of being less feminine because of a life-saving device doesn't deserve your time.

I don't feel less feminine, I just feel better. And I snore less, too! Which is definitely more feminine. Plus my Swift FX for her has pink headgear, a pink carry bag, pink cheek straps....And I believe I saw a pink ResMed S9 on display at my DME. There's definitely more marketing towards women.

Re: women with apnea
I might be a man, but my wife uses her cpap, she will be the first to admit that it is not feminine, but it is much more feminine than the 02 bottle she hauls around with her.
She wishes that she would have treated her sleep apnea much earlier, but that time is past. Years of untreated sleep apnea along with an atrium septum defect that was not found until the birth of our second child lead to a thickening of her heart walls and pulmonary hypertension.
for all you people who will not treat your sleep apnea, ask my wife, what is more sexy, a cpap that you wear at night in the privacy of your home or a big green oxygen tank you have to lug eveywhere you go.
On the plus side, her prognosis is good and with some weight loss and treatment of her sleep apnea, the O2 might get to go bye bye.

I'm with you on this one ChunkyFrog - "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade". I've made mention several times on the forum that there have been times I've used my mask as a matter of seduction Never have I felt less feminine because of it. To me it's just a matter of perspective (a.k.a. "tude" )chunkyfrog wrote:Oh, come on now; isn't the mask, headgear, hose thing just a little bit kinky-bondage-really twisted?
With the right 'tude, it can be downright HOT!
@Comet - "Somehow I am depressed that all feminity is gone." You can "choose" to look at the glass half full or half empty. I choose to be positive with it and have some fun Look at it this way, consider it another addition to your sexy paraphernalia. Throw that hose around your shoulders and do a sexy jig. Have some creative fun with it.
This woman was on the forum for a very brief time made her cpap machine hot and sexy with pink bows and playboy bunnies.

@ Otter - I love what you said. I needed to hear that myself. Thank you.

I agree. What Otter wrote was beautiful. I thought I posted about it last night, but I don't see my post. Maybe I'm sleep deprived and only imagined I posted.
