Do I have mixed sleep apnea? Was the Sleep doc. sloppy?

Post by kong » Thu Mar 01, 2012 7:15 pm

I have a few questions/concerns regarding my sleep study.

According to the study, I have severe obstructive sleep apnea with an AHI of 40. I understand that part.

Based upon the information below, I'm wondering if the sleep doctor should have labelled me with with mixed sleep apnea.

The report says I had the following number of events:

CA: 11 (2.3 per hour of Total Sleep Time (TST)).
OA: 38 (8.0 per hour of TST).
MA: 17 (3.6 per hour of TST).
Apnea: 66 (13.8 per hour of TST).
Hypopnea: 123 (25.8 per hour of TST).
A + H: 189 (39.6 per hour of TST).
RERA: 0 (0.0 per hour of TST).
Total: 189 (39.6 per hour of TST).

I'm also concerned that the report says the mean duration and maximum duration of all of the above events (except RERAs, which were listed as lasting 0.0 seconds) was 10.0 seconds. Wouldn't it be almost impossible for every one of those events to have lasted 10.0 seconds? Does the mean the sleep doctor analyzing my data was likely sloppy?

Thanks for any assistance anyone is able to give me.

Hi friend, tbh I have no idea, how to interpret sleep study data, but if your not comfortable with your sleep doctors analysis, you could alway's send your report to another sleep specialist for interpretation. In the world we live in, nothing is impossible my friend. good luck to you, hopefully someone can assist you with sleep data.
