PM Karen and she'll help you, I'm sure. She knows how to contact him. Or you could PM Tom directly. Forget he was a member, too!

Must have been a problem with their local mail server, because I have just received a reply. Didn't get the answer I was looking for, but I replied with further requests.

Den,

Don't understand why AOL didn't allow me to see this site correctly, but Firefox did. Thanks.

Here is a link to the Adobe brochure for the product, if anyone wants to look at it.

Lori,

Can't help you there.....have never used AOL

This device is interesting, but like Snork1, I had questions about side-sleeping with it.

I really haven't read this whole thread, but does anybody have an idea of what the "ballpark" price might be? After all, it IS a "medical device".

Den,

I've emailed them for pricing and availability info. I'll post the info if and when I receive it.

Den,

That is "the" question on everyone's minds, I'll bet. There hasn't been any indication as to how big a dent this will make in someone's wallet. So, at this point, your guess is as good as mine (or anyone else's for that matter).

BreateX

Talked to Hoffman's marketing people this morning:

They said they have had a conversation with Mr. Goodman, but no order has been placed as yet. They will work through dealers.

They plan to begin shipping in mid-April.

They would not talk numbers for pricing, but said they expect the pricing to be in the order of mid-line CPAP machine prices or more.

Called CPAP.COM:

The person handling customer calls at CPAP.COM this morning did not seem to know what BreatheX was.

My guess is that the dealers are all holding back until they get a sense of how well received this product is at the show in Nevada this week. I expect that if there are no glitches at the show, orders will be cut.

I personally need a better travel solution than what I have now with the Respironics APAP. I am considering the 420G, but want to know more about the BreatheX.

"Pricing to be in the order of mid-line CPAP machine"

...Depends whose pricing scale we're using... a cpap.com price of $400 could translate to a DME price of $1500+

So far they've told me to contact my DME and ask them to order one for me. LOL!

My guess is that they will price it to compete with units like the PB420G; it seems they are marketing it as a traveller, so it would stand to reason that units like the 420G would be thier immediate competition. It will be interesting to see if they can come to compete with APAP units and even with the units that have an integrated humidfier.

Ideally, I am sure they would like to position thier unit so that it is a viable primary CPAP rather than a "traveller."

See the picture of this...I'm wondering if I can lay down comfortably with this. Would it move around? How is it "anchored" down? This will definitely be interesting...

Mid-line or more... LOL! That pretty much leaves it wide open. Wader, you are so right. Mid-line (or more) from cpap.com would be reasonable. Mid-line (or more) from a DME would be ridiculous as usual.

I just have to repeat what so many before me have said--thank god for cpap.com and the Goodmans. Even if they should elect not to carry the BreatheX Omega, they always have the best prices. I wouldn't have been able to afford any of my equipment or masks without them.

I want one!

Post by sleepybarb » Tue Mar 21, 2006 5:55 pm

I really hope that this will be sold through cpap.com. I dont "do" DMEs; having dealt with one very non-responsive one I went solo and now really like the independence of tracking my own "compliance," and having access to my own manual. As a too frequent flyer I would love to have this available for international flights or the "red-eye" cross country. I'm also a passenger on long car rides and need to get my legs up--but when I do this I can't breathe!

Note-I travel with a 420 G which is a nice portable little machine, but pretty cumbersome to even think about using inflight or in the car (even if I could figure the power supply issue out).

My only wish list item would be maybe a small port in the hose that could be opened to attach some type of water source (e.g., a small bottle or a sprayer to moisten the inside of the hose?) for airline flights. The air on these flights is so dry any way to add moisture would be a blessing.
