Nellcor N-395 Pulse Oximeter

Post by hecate » Tue Mar 21, 2006 2:37 pm

Okay is everyone from this forum bidding on the only n-395 iximeter on ebay? $390 and it hasn't closed yet! Begining of March one went for $118. I think Bill has driven the price up with his singing the praise of his oximeter.

Dang! I'd have bought a spare if I'd known. .

When I bought mine several months ago there were lots available. I suppose a bunch of 'em must have been taken out of service then and replaced with new models.

Personally, I can't see spending more than maybe $500 for an N-395 because I think you can get new oximeters in the $800 range with memory and alarm functions.

FWIW, I'm fond of my N-395, because it has worked well for me. But, I would have been happy getting something else, too. (I'm a pragmatist at heart.)

Regards,
Bill

Liz,

If you ask your doctor to write you a prescription for a pulse/ox overnight study, you can get one to use from a local DME for FREE. They CAN'T charge you for it.

Best wishes,

Den

Thanks, Liz. Doesn't sound like a bad price for one in good shape. That's less than I paid.

Bill

Bigger "if" is my doctor's willingness to write that prescription. It was enough of a challenge to get an AUTO CPAP over his objections. And getting the software to read the results left him miffed. Most sleep docs don't seem to like to allow you to have anything for "self help"....nor do they care to help....ironically.
My sleep doc and doc are two seperate folks so I just play one off against the other. I just say "my sleep doc said to get you to..." they never check and even if they did I doubt they could remember. Unless of course it was a biggie and then I wouldn't do that.
