Granted mine is new, I received it on the 29th of last month. I think one of the reasons I might not notice any extra noise is because I'm a Tanker in the Army and I'm use to hearing the turbine engine on it.

I'll keep a listen and let people know what I hear if it is wanted.

Mine's less than 30 days old. I can deal with Darth Vader, but Vader running a floor vac around the Death Star is annoying me I'll let ya'll know what I found out after meeting with the DME probably tomorrow.

Woke up this morning and I could have sworn the machine was off or broken, felt like the pressure had dropped to 0. I checked all around for leaks, air was flowing from the vent, I lifted the mask, couldn't figure it out. Got ready for work, pulled the card and read the data from last nite. It all looked normal, 10cm pressure, no big leaks. Guess I've reached CPAP nirvana

It was a bust at the DME, compared a new machine with mine, same sound. I guess I'm just sensitive to that frequency. DME suggested a Dr. Thompson CD. With the ceiling fan, the SleepMate & the machine, I don't think I need another noise source besides, earbuds/headphones, headgear & hose, I' d look like a wad of tangled up yarn in the morning.

Going to follow carbonman's lead and fab up a a box of sorts with some sound absorbing material.

Hi,

I've got the same machine, and one thing I know is that my old Remstar Pro C-flex machine is much quieter. I also have a Remstar Tank Version A-pap, and that is a little quieter, but also has a wheezing in and out noise. Noise is always an issue with cpap. I've found that running the unit under the bed (with a dust ruffle on the bed) cuts most of the noise. Or you could do what I used to, put it into my nightstand cabinet.

Or get a 10 foot hose, and move it to the closet! Sound intensity is the inverse square, so every 2 feet further away is 1/4th the loudness.

Or you could get a Headrest Mask, which is so loud it drowns out my machine!

Seriously, have you tried the machine with C-pap rather than apap, and with a-flex and cflex off and on?

Not quite. Every time you double the distance from you to the machine decreases the loudness to 1/4 of what it was before.

My remstar m100 just started whining a lot this past month. My wife said it was noisy and I found it not tolerable.

I have it almost 2 years and it was fine until recently.

This week, I detached the humidifier and just used the machine and it reduces the whining significantly so I think its the humidifier.

I'm contacting my DME to see what they suggest.

I like the machine's size and weight for traveling including backpacking and camping with a battery so I hope its something that can be serviced.

I had that same problem twice in 6 years with the same machine. I had to send it in to be fixed. These machines seem to do this after so much time.

Back when I had a M Series Pro it developed a whine after a couple of years. I had to send it in for repair and they replaced the humidifier (recall issue), the PC board (wasn't recording data and auto on wasn't working) and the fan motor. I suspect the motor was replaced because of the whine. The new fan was still working fine (no whine) for three years or so when I replaced it with a PS System One.

Embrace the whine. It tells you that you're still alive. It is your friend. Rejoice in it.

Or... Spring for another, quieter machine.
