Autopap home titration detecting leaks

Post by Rising Bear » Thu Feb 23, 2012 8:28 am

My own machine has been working overtime for 7 years, butI have recently had some waking-up, low-on-air panics, so my doc suggested a home
titration to see if my pressure (13) was still correct. Because I hypothesized that my machine has seen better days they also tested my machine and it appears to be ok.

The first week of home titration, once the data was read, told the clinician that I was leaking (2.5?). The thing is, I have been feeling great during the autotitration trial
with only one instance of a panicked awakening, perhaps due to the autopap not kicking in soon enough as I am just drifting off.

Could it be possible that the autotitration data-recording setup is not using the "full face" configuration, resulting in an assumed leak when I don't believe there was one?

The loaner machine is a Resmed S9. They tried to steer me to the Respironics ComfortGel Full, I relented and gave it a shot but it was pinching the nasal areas as to restrict breathing, so I switched back to a new F&P 432 and seemed to be sleeping well.

Any comments would be of immense help. Thanks!
