S9 autoset is making puffing sounds....

Post by kwcrnp » Wed Feb 22, 2012 6:33 pm

I love my S9 autoset and I've adjusted to CPAP very easily. But I have noticed recently that in the AM my machine is making a puffing sound.
This is different then the hose noise. Its not loud enough to wake me or hubby but just curious what might be causing it since its sooo quiet
when I go to bed. It seems to develop through the night. And I still have a 1/3 of a tank of water in my humidifier in the AM.

I have not noticed the puffing noise but I have had a few days where my climate line hose must lose its "electronic" connection because I lose the visuals that show the humidity level and temp in the display. Once I reseat the hose a few times it will come back on and pop back off and finally come back on only to be lost again sometime during the night. I don't know if I am tugging at the hose by my movements and loosening the electronic connector or what but it is starting to bug me.

Sounds like you may have a hose with a broken wire inside. How old is it? Most insurance and Medicare will replace the hose every 6 months. I think you need to get a replacement.

I just got the machine and the hose from cpap.com about a month ago. I am going to keep an eye on it. It could be as simple as me being a little more mobile during my sleep and I might be tugging on the hose a little. It sure is irritating to wake up and be so dry because the humidifier has been acting as a passover unit because the hose wasn't properly connected.

Dale - I put a rubber band around my hose and pin it to the side of my bed so if I get restless during the night, I feel that tug before I feel the tug
of the machine being pulled. Just a thought.

That is a good idea, I think I will give that a go and see if that ends the episodes of no humidity.

Thanks

Dale

I put some silicone plumbing tape around the ends of my climateline (and all other) hoses to prevent any breaks. So far, no problems.

If this isn't the problem, make sure your humidifier is closed properly. I had a weird sound coming from my machine and this was the cause.

Cheers,
xena
