Hose Head To be

Post by Rapunzel111 » Sun Mar 19, 2006 5:12 pm

Hi all-
I am a 37 y.o. woman-Hose Head To Be and I am really getting frustrated with how long all of this is taking. After getting a taste of how wonnnderful sleep is with the CPAP machine, thanks to the CPAP sleep study I was sent to,I now know how misereable I am.The sleep lab is dragging it's feet finishing up the paperwork so I can got to my doctor for diagnosis and the prescription need for the machine. Why,Oh Why is this taking sooo long????I am a danger statistically when I drive,so why are these people acting like it's OK if I have to wait and wait to get some relief??
I am just about to scream because there is now a solution to why I am always feeling bad,and they are taking their good old time with it!!
I need some moral support bad...
Thanks-

I don't know how comforting this will be, but most of us have "been there".
Hang in there! Hopefully they won't keep you waiting too much longer.

Best wishes,

I went through the exact same thing. My first sleep study was Oct. 8, 2005. My titration study was Nov. 4, 2005. I finally got my machine on Dec. 22, 2005 and that was after some phone calls and going to the DME to pick it up instead of waiting for an appointment for them to bring it to my home. Keep on top of them with phone calls. They will soon get tired of you calling and quit dragging their feet (hopefully).

When I woke up this morning my girlfriend asked me, 'Did you sleep well?' I said 'No, I made a few mistakes.' Steven Wright

It takes too long

When I had my titration study a couple of weeks ago, I didn't want to wait to start treatment, so I got my primary care doctor to prescribe an automatic machine.

The doctor can do that if he has just the initial sleep study that proves you have apnea. The automatic machine can be set for a wide range of pressures, and so you don' t have to have the titration study to show what exact pressure you need.

(This might not work for you if you had a split night study, the kind where they test you the first half of the night and then put the CPAP on the second half. I had two separate nights.)

Be as pushy as you need to be! Best wishes,

Moogy

Hi,

Me too. Just hang in there. You know all the sayings about waiting for good things. This is not something you want to be rushed. The decisions made by the sleep lab and docs will have a great impact on the success of your treatment.

My first sleep study was January and I just got setup this past Friday.

Like others have said, do not be afraid to enquire, but I would not be rude. You catch more bees with honey and all. Just voice your concern and ask questions. If you are concerned about your health while waiting, then let them know. They are health care providers and respond to inquiries about your health. They are also people and likewise respond poorly to negativity.

Good luck!
