Intellipap/Software question
Intellipap/Software question
I need to make an appointment with my sleep doctor. I doubt I will get one during the upcoming week since she is only in on Tuesday and Wednesday. But in case I do, would I be able to access my previous data when my software arrives on Tuesday and is installed? Or would it only be accessing the data starting the day it is installed?
Obviously, if I only have one night of data, I want to wait until the following week to see her so I can get the most out of the visit.
Thanks!

Re: Intellipap/Software question
That is an excellent question! I didn't receive my software until about 3 days after I started using my machine in 2010. I used the Smart Codes each day until the software arrived, and once I had that up and running, it only collected the data from the point at which the module had been put on to the back of the machine. So.... short answer is NO. It will only show data for the days your module collected it. HOWEVER, the Smart Codes data can be retrieved for the other days.... hopefully, you wrote those down each day.

Re: Intellipap/Software question
Thanks Emilia.
I have saved all the smart code printouts but unfortunately, I don't think it provides enough data to give a good picture of my problems.
I have been suffering from severely fragmented sleep and while I have some theories as to what is going on, unfortunately, I won't know if I am right until I see the software.

PS - I am assuming the problem will repeat. Perhaps I will get lucky and it will resolve.

Re: Intellipap/Software question
You are fairly new to the cpap world so it isn't unusual to have fragmented sleep. Some folks take a while to get used to having a strange object attached to their face and sleep through the night. I am not suggesting you are consciously doing this....for some, it is truly a sub-conscious reaction. Once your brain has accepted this as routine, you will begin to sleep through the night. Are you awakening to use the bathroom? If so, that will stop soon, too.... it does for almos all of us who used to awaken to use the facilities pre-cpap. I used to get up 2-3 times a night, but now I sleep right through 8 hours and sometimes more. If your data doesn't show any technical reason for the fragmentation, I suspect it will resolve with a bit more time. Hang in there!

Re: Intellipap/Software question
Do you have the data module?
I think SleepyHead will work with IntelliPAP. Download it and try it.

Re: Intellipap/Software question
Hi Emila,
No, I am not awakening to use the bathroom.
I thought I was comfortable with the mask or at least as comfortable as one can be.
Thanks for your encouragement.
Hi Arghangle,
Thanks
No, I don't yet have the data module which will come with the software on Tuesday.
I am going to check out Sleepyhead first.

SleepyHead won't work without the module.49er wrote: No, I don't yet have the data module which will come with the software on Tuesday.

I'll be interested if any data from before you get the module will show up when you plug the module in. Good luck.

Re: Intellipap/Software question
Sorry, I wasn't clear. When my software package arrives and I have installed everything, I am going to check out SleepyHead first as I get the sense that the Intellipap software is more oriented to clinicians than patients.archangle wrote:SleepyHead won't work without the module.49er wrote: No, I don't yet have the data module which will come with the software on Tuesday.

I think the consensus is that the data will start from when I install everything. I will let everyone know what happens assuming I remember in my sleep deprived state.

Re: Intellipap/Software question
I think all the proprietary software for all machines is geared toward clinicians.... after all, they try to keep it from us at every turn Sleepyhead, from what I understand, will give you plenty of data--and maybe even more than SmartLink does.

Re: Intellipap/Software question
re last post from Amelia, so do you mean that one would only need sleepyHead if one had the module - I am thinking about getting one of these machines. thanks for any info.
Re: Intellipap/Software question
The module on the Intellipap is needed for data transfer to the SD card. The SD card is needed to use either SleepyHead or the Intellipap software. Without the module there is no transfer to a SD card and one is limited to the on screen data or smart code data.Ms Piggy wrote:re last post from Amelia, so do you mean that one would only need sleepyHead if one had the module - I am thinking about getting one of these machines. thanks for any info.

Re: Intellipap/Software question
If you have the module and and SD card on the back of your IP, you can use Sleepyhead. However, to buy just the module 'a la carte,' it costs $99.50 on our host site. That is just the module/manual and nothing else. For $50 bucks more, you can get the entire software package consisting of the module, manual, SD card, card reader, firmware cable and serial to usb cable PLUS the Smart Link software disk. So.... buying the whole package for $149.95 is a MUCH better deal. The firmware cable, alone, sells for about $38 and you want to have that for when DeVilbiss does an upgrade....allowing you to get that updated firmware to make your machine up-to-date.
Hope that helps.....

Re: Intellipap/Software question
Even with the module, IntelliPAP doesn't record airflow waveform data, which is a very useful thing.Ms Piggy wrote:re last post from Amelia, so do you mean that one would only need sleepyHead if one had the module - I am thinking about getting one of these machines. thanks for any info.
I would recommend S9 AutoSet or PRS1 Auto over IntelliPAP for this reason alone.
Jedimark, who wrote SleepyHead, is working on a way to get the airflow data with the use of a serial cable, but you would need to have the computer hooked to the IntelliPAP while sleeping. You would still need to buy or make the cable. I'm not sure whether you would need the module.

Re: Intellipap/Software question
thanks to all for sorting that out for me. I like the idea of having some on screen info so easily available every morning.

Definitely agreeEmilia wrote:I think all the proprietary software for all machines is geared toward clinicians.... after all, they try to keep it from us at every turn Sleepyhead, from what I understand, will give you plenty of data--and maybe even more than SmartLink does.
Anyway, I will be curious as to my doctor's reaction when she sees I can speak the "language". The only danger is they end up thinking you know more than you really do. LOL.
But better to have that problem vs. being treated like a dummy.
