Portable Wearable CPAPmachine
Hi all,
Med Trade Spring in Las Vegas will reveal many new ideas and devices.
Hoffman Laboratories is revealing their BreatheX portable, wearable CPAP machine. Pillow Soft it is two pillows that contain the machine and the battery pack.
It is quiet as a mouse and you sleep with it around your neck. It has a short hose and it is battery operated. It is perfect for camping and long plane flights.
The website will be up and running I am told on Monday.
More information will be available then.

It will certainly be fun to see the details!
A nice compact and light polymer cell Lithium ion battery, maybe a solar charger in addition to the international charger. Straight CPAP and no humidifier of course, but could be really handy for giving freedom to campers and people doing a lot of long flights.
How about a pocket for those tear open warm packs used for skiing/hiking to warm up the air a bit? Sometimes I think the heated hose is more important than the humidifier.
Hopefully this delivers....

I'm really surprised that the ASAA moderators would allow such a blatant promotion of a commercial product. I'm not surprised that SleepyDave (the ASAA moderator) hinted that it would be customary for such individuals, promoting a product, to drop off a bunch of "samples" on his desk to be later handed out to "deserving individuals" - read (other ASAA associates).Darth Vader Look wrote:I am really surprised that tommyboy didn't post on this site or TAS, just ASAA.

I thought the "bribes will be accepted"/ "pay up or cease and desist" statement was a very funny insight into the objectivity of that forum.wading thru the muck! wrote:I'm really suprised that the ASAA moderators would allow such a blatant promotion of a commecial product. Tommyboy
Hi all,
I’m the Tommyboy that Rested Gal mentioned. My real name is Tom Hoffman. I am very proud to announce that we are releasing a new CPAP at Medtrade next week. Our full site is going live on Monday. It is http://www.breathex.com. I’m sorry that I have been able to only post on the ASAA site. I have been pretty busy as you can imagine and didn’t have a chance to post here.
We are introducing the most revolutionary device since the advent of the CPAP. It is mobile and wearable as well as battery operated. I am a CPAP user and have been using it for 7 months. We are also releasing a great mask/nasal pillow interface in a couple of months. If you have any questions for me please feel free to ask.
Note to wading thru the muck!: First, my whole purpose of starting those topics was to find out what CPAP users really want. Second, Nowhere on the forum did I ever mention my product name, business name or web site address. Next, Even if I did I work for a manufacturer without a storefront site. So technically I wouldn’t be breaking any rules. Manufacturers products and web site links are posted all of the time. So, I still can’t understand why people think I broke any rules or engaged in advertising. Now I can understand that people have a problem with big corporations but we’re not even that. As a matter of fact we are a fairly new company based in Chatsworth California. Yes, we actually build our device here. Not in Australia or elsewhere. Our company goal is to be in touch with you the CPAP users and make the best devices that will make your life better. I can’t tell you how excited I am to do this for you and for me.
Thank you,
Tom Hoffman

tommyboy, I think most of the posts in this thread were on your side and it was more questioning the "freedom of information....for a price" possible policy at the other site.
There is indeed a fine line between informing and spamming. A lot of us really want to see the latest and the greatest that is coming out to deal with OSA. We just don't want to see it as every third topic and injected into every thread. Like some spammers are doing.
Some products work for some people and not for others, or under certain circumstances. It will be interesting to see how your product fits in. I think you will find pretty good acceptance as long as you stick to being informative.
You will also find this group as a whole tends to be very analytical on reviewing any new product, but will generally try to find the positives along with any critiques of the weaknesses.
I can only speak for myself, but I am certainly interested in seeing your product rollout.

Welcome to cpaptalk!
I think you may have misunderstood my comments. Regarding your posts on the ASAA forum, many of us have had our posts over there deleted or moderated because we apparently are defacto associated with this forum, run by a commercial entity, cpap.com. I was just surprised that your posts regarding your new product were not moderated considering the content.
On this forum, we welcome information regarding legitimate new products and are grateful to have the opportunity to comment during the design process. I'll warn you that there are folks here that will "pull no punches", so If you are able to take any criticism in the spirit it is offered, you will find that you will receive valuable feedback.
Good luck with your product launch!
Sincerely,
wading thru the muck of the sleep study/DME/Insurance money pit!

Tom, Thanks for sharing the news of this new product! It is encouraging to see that creative minds are working to make CPAP therapy more convenient! I assume your avatar is a tiny picture of the machine....I just bookmarked your site so I can get a better look at it next week when the website goes live.tomhoffmanlabs
