I think it is p... poor management for a supplier to give a machine that doesn't score centrals to some one with centrals during the initial sleep study. Unless the number of centrals was so small that they were insignificant. Even then...rather p... poor because it doesn't cost very much more to just supply the Autoset S9 which gives a person all the data.

Right now you don't know if your AHI is obstructive (which might need pressure increase) or predominately central in nature which we wouldn't treat with increased pressure.

Best you can do now is watch the overall AHI and if it goes up with increased pressure, back off.
If it stays the same with increased pressure, back off.
If the AHI reduces with pressure changes..then likely they are mainly obstructive in nature.

Centrals are open airway cessations of breathing and we don't treat them with an increase in pressure.
Some people an increase in pressure can actually trigger more centrals.

Hi! When's the last time you say your DME rep, or sleep doctor? I've only been on CPAP therapy for about 3 weeks, and have had something adjusted twice now. I wouldn't have wanted to try to change things on my machine, being new to all of this, without talking to my doc. It was really helpful. At first, my machine wasn't working properly- the auto setting seemed to have a mind of its own. After fixing that, we tweaked the pressure. Since the latest tweak, I've had more consistent results. If you haven't seen your sleep doc, it sounds like that might be helpful for you, in addition to the info you're getting from others here in the forum.

Thank you so much. I'll keep an eye on AHI data, although I only show it tracked for 3 of 30 nights. I'll let you know. thanks again.

I appreciate your advice and would follow it if I could. I live on an island in the middle of nowhere, and don't have access to those services so I've left to my own devices (and, thankfully, the support of this group). I have sent an email that way and am waiting for a response.
Cheers

Latest news: am getting an S9 AutoSet shipped. Hopefully it will aid in getting this whole thing adjusted.
Had the worst night in months last night after kinda giving up on the FFM and going back to pillows. Couldn't function. I'm going to stick it out with the mask. WTH, I shaved for it....
Looking forward to new data.
Oh yeah, the folks at the lab are going to send the initial report (which showed NO CSA, btw. Shows how thorough it was) which I'm excited to see.
Sleep well,
