Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor visit tomorrow

Post by Slim46Galw/apnea » Tue Jan 31, 2012 8:09 pm

I continue to use my CPAP for my sleep apnea therapy with some minor problems... mouth breathing, not adjusting to mask and some anxiety issues. I am working diligently to overcome these things and get the full advantage of my CPAP.

I met with my PCP (family doctor) last week to find out if I could be prescribed a sleep aid but she refused and explained that I don't need any other worries (like not waking up some night when I am gasping for air because I am out of it from the sleeping pills).... good point!

My PCP suggested I meet with a local Ear, Nose and Throat doctor that also specializes in sleep disorders. She said I have a very, very tiny mouth and throat that only provides me with the teeniest of an airway.

Has anyone discussed their sleep issues (lack of) with an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor?

\Hello,
I have been having numerous problems with my sinus and throat since being on Cpap. I have seen my ENT 3 times now and I still am having stuffy nose, and a feeling of difficulty in swallowing sometimes. I have tried everything from saline nasa,l sprays, neti pot, changes in my hudmidifier . allergy medications and many, many more things that don't seem to work. I am in the process of getting a new mask which will cover my nose and mouth and see if that will help. It is important that you find a ENT who is also well adversed in dealing with sleep disorders since I feel it all seems to be related. A good ENT is a benefit to all of us that have OSA.
Good Luck
