SleepyJohn,

You can post scare stories about chemicals and cancer all day long until the end of time. The internet is loaded up with them.

But explain to me why the death rates (age adjusted) in the U.S. for cancer are trending down? We are using more chemicals than ever but the cancer death rates are down. If chemicals are causing cancer would you not expect the rates to go up?

Also have a look at this article, http://www.webmd.com/cancer/news/201201 ... ue-to-drop , and you will see that not one chemical is mentioned as a cause of cancer.

Here is what they do mention as causes of cancer:
Smoking of tobacco
Hormone replacement therapy
Human papillomavirus (HPV)
Chronic acid reflux
Obesity
UV radiation from sun and tanning beds
Hepatitis B and C infections
Family history
Oral sex
So you see chemicals are not a concern according to the American Cancer Society.

Now it is time for you to cite a major legitimate source that rates chemicals as a significant cause of cancer.

Off to enjoy my strawberry yogurt,

Hey VVV,

I'll show you mine if you show me yours? Nah, not playing - we could trade links to learned studies for ever!

But you are OT - this thread was about vitamins for the brain to reduce Apnea damage, cancer wasn't mentioned.

My point is that i can't see how its going to help your brain by ingesting pesticides that are known to be poisonous. Fruit and berries are a fabulous source of vitamins. Just get ones that have not been sprayed with poisons. Isn't that just common sense?

Go eat your methyl bromide laced yumyums if you like, but it is up to you to prove that it is safe to do so, not for me to prove that it isnt safe. Start by eating a few spoons of ddt, washed down with a gallon of methyl bromide.

Then i will eat my (organic) hat!
Health effects of methyl bromide
Methyl bromide is highly toxic to humans and animals. It may be inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Acute exposure can cause severe chemical burns of the skin, eyes and airways, delayed chemical pneumonia which produces water in the lungs, severe kidney damage and has devastating effects on the central nervous system. The effects may be fatal.

There is an easy solution to this.

1. I will keep eating CA strawberries.

2. You will eat only "organic" (snicker) strawberries and shut the hell up trying to tell the rest of us what to eat.

Oops, your tone seems rather aggressive. Are you usually this friendly? Try and relax, this is a discussion, not a bullying session.

I accept your proposal with pleasure, noting that it was you who started to tell us what to eat, not me:
Most of her top list of to do's is not about taking a supplement, it is about what one should eat and how frequently.

That makes the most sense to me. Vegetables, berries, and moderate amounts of fruits, nuts, olive oil, fatty fish, and otherwise lean meats. Stay away from grains and sugars and fruit juices. No need to read a book.
I actually agree with your dietary proposals, and merely wanted to point out the hazards of eating poisons. I don't expect to be shouted at for voicing an opinion.

If that is what you merely want to do it would be worthwhile to educate yourself about 1. "the dosage is the poison" and 2. the poisons that all plants produce to protect themselves from pests - poisons which are present in "organic" fruits and vegetables.

I take 2200 mg fish oils daily mostly DHA. I take E because it helps recycle C and antioxidants are really helpful in reducing inflammation as is lots of magnesium (currently taking the citrate and glycinate forms). I take a combo pill of L-Lysine, L-Proline, and C as it help reduce formation of plaque which restricts blood flow to the brain. I try to eat mustard in some form daily (for the tumeric) and use tumeric in anything I'm cooking that's yellow; big on ginger too -- those who eat lots of both have little ALZ. I eat berries 4-5 times/wk, esp blackberries, and cherries in season for the anthocyanidins (?sp); considering pomegranite juice but the carbs are so freaking high. Eggs for the choline and natural sulfur. Lots of veggies, cooked and in salads. High fat, mod protein, low carbs, avoid veggy oils, OO for marinades and salad dressings & cook everything in organic refined coconut oil. Apnea-induced brain damage mostly gone after being 100% compliant since getting my first CPAP Aug 20, '07; still notice small cognitive improvements (big on playing memory-based/pattern-recognition games). Oh, and following Eric Braverman's suggestions in his book "The Edge Effect..." which in my case (based on responses to his questionnaire) meant adding passion flower extract.

I'm taking choline and alpha GPC and NAC. so the coconut oil makes a big difference along with the berries? is it the astanaxathin in strawberries or lobster that is an antioxidant and helps brain function?
