Re: How long do these machines last?
The gov't/ins, companies generally allow for 5 years--
Some folks have been using theirs way longer--others die well within that period--(the machines!)
Most warranties are for 2 years. (Devilbiss=3)
To be safe, it wouldn't hurt to start shopping--a back-up is sure nice to have.

Check Craig's list or secondwindcpap.com.
Even our host has some very low-priced bare-bones machines.

Re: How long do these machines last?
The machines should last 15,000-20,000 hours...that's 5-7 years. Most insurance will replace them after 5 years.

Re: How long do these machines last?
I used a Sullivan for 2 years, gave it away 5 years ago and it's still going strong.

My Remstar plus will be 10 yrs old next month and has 24870 hours on it. It has been knocked off the table onto the floor a couple of times, I got water in it a couple of times and it didn't work for a night until it dried out. It has been on 4 cruises, in several countries, and many states. Shopping for a new machine now. I will keep my old faithful for a back up.
Re: How long do these machines last?
At some point, the batteries for the real time clock will fail and data collection will no longer work.
I don't know if the machine function will be affected other than having the wrong date.
The batteries aren't user replaceable, and on Respironics machines, there's no way for the owner to reset the time settings.
