VPAP ADAPT SV ENHANCED data handling
VPAP ADAPT SV ENHANCED data handling
Hi everyone, I am new to the board. I searched high and low for answers but only found bits and pieces. I thought I would post here. I have been using cpap for about 10 years, and just got a VPAP ADAPT SV ENHANCED, and would love to be able to monitor in full detail all of the facets of my sleep. I think I need resmed 3.7 to 3.12 software with no idea where to get that. (preferably free) I do have a DB9 connector (serial connector) on the PC, so I think I can use a null modem cable to connect to the unit. After that, it looks like that will be it, and I will be able to get connected to all available info from this HUGE unit (old unit was S8 autoset). I did order a oximeter that stores overnight info. I think I can match the timelines together well enough if I find that I am having "episodes" that require closer attention. That's my plan, and some of you folks are just WAYYYYY to smart at this stuff. Any information or guidance that you can provide would be so very much appreciated. (oh BTW, I plan on slipping the oximeter on the wifes finger overnight a couple times, and I am wondering if she needs further investigation on her snoring. Thanks everyone in advance!

If you have a DB9 serial connection on the PC all you need is the null modem cable. Check the proper male/female connections needed. I use Newegg (http://newegg.com/) for such orders. They are FAST and inexpensive.
I'll track down the Rescan software and post the pointer in this thread.

Excellent! I have completed the install and will have bedtime reading material tonight for sure! I dont think I have a null modem cable here these days, so I will make one tomorrow. I imagine the typical pinouts for standard null modem cable will suffice. FANTASTIC! Thanks so much for your help! I am EXCITED about sifting the data and seeing what can be determined from it! truly I am one lucky dude.

Re: VPAP ADAPT SV ENHANCED data handling
uh oh... crazy me, thought that was a rs232 db9 connector. Its a VGA!!! I think I need this stuff from your earlier posts John. Then I should be good to go I think. Yes?
---------------
You can use something like the following:
USB (Male) to RS232 (DB9) (Male) Connection
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6812200738
RS232 (DB9) (F/M) Null Modem Cable
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6812200248
Most of the USB to Serial connection devices do not act as a null modem device. You will need the cable for that.
Then you should be able to connect to the VPAP Adapt SV unit to read the data on the device.

Re: VPAP ADAPT SV ENHANCED data handling
i think that RS232 DB9 cable needs to be F/F ... So, it should be:
USB (Male) to RS232 (DB9) (Male) Connection
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6812232006
RS232 (DB9) (F/F) Null Modem Cable
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6812120736
Both are representative of what needs to be purchased to make it work. Hope that helps.

Re: VPAP ADAPT SV ENHANCED data handling
Worked perfectly! Inexpensive, and pretty informative! At least I can now see how those middle of the night leaks are working out too! Thanks so much for your help!!! Now we really start to interpret the data that we have been missing, because we slept through it or got woke up by it and it changed when we woke up! lol. I think I might be looking for a new mask soon.
