I need some MAJOR help.

I am a VERY restless sleeper and I switch back and forth from both sides to my stomach.

I think that I am doing something wrong, and I REALLY need some advice. I have the Activa LT mask and ClimateLine hose, and the hose is CONSTANTLY coming undone from my mask. It is so incredibly annoying to have to keep reattaching it. What should I do?

I will be getting a brand new Swift FX in the next few days. Will I have this problem with the Swift FX as well?

Also, regarding leakage, what is the ideal number to shoot for?

Could you be stretching the hose to it's limits and therefore pulling it off the mask? If this is the case, try a longer hose.

Make sure that the hose is not hanging up on something--corners crevices, etc.
or
Switch to a less expensive hose until you can learn to be gentle with it.

All I can add is I've never had issues with the hose and the Swift FX.

Swift FX might help because it has about 1 foot extra of flexible hose, but I suggest you consider hanging the hose over your head, either with a hose hanger or over the headboard or with some rigged up homemade device. Go on cpap.com and look at hose hangers to get some idea of what you're aiming for.

One of the downsides to the Swfit FX is that it's very soft and flexible and I found that without hanging the hose it was constantly being pulled away from my nose when I moved around. The hose hanger solves that problem.

Janknitz is right. I have both the Swift FX and the Opus 360 masks https://www.cpap.com/productpage/fisher ... -Mask.html. Of the two, the Opus 360 is far less apt to come off. The Opus is my primary mask; I prefer it because it stays in place. Give it a try. It's also less expensive than the Swift FX.

Thanks guys. This is truly driving me crazy.

I was told to look at the FX, so I did some research and it actually appeared to be the winner by a long shot in the mask department, and now I'm hearing that the Opus is the winner. Oh well, I'll give the FX a try and if that doesn't work then I'll try the Opus. I'm not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination but you can't put a price tag on a good night of sleep along with actually having energy the next day. I will spend every cent I have to get rid of my daytime sleepiness.....

This probably has nothing to do with your mask. Check the rubber connector at the end of the hose. It may have lost some "grip" if you separate it from the mask every day (deliberately or otherwise). Buy a new hose, and buy 2 quick connects for the hose, one for the machine end, and one for the mask. Leave the quick connect in the hose at all times, and separate the quick connect from the mask when you need to. Get a swivel quick connect for the end of the hose at the machine. The hose can be washed with the quick connects in it. You only need to remove the quick connects when you replace the hose with a new one.

It's a matter of personal preference. The Opus and I did NOT get along. Since you have a Swift FX coming, try that first, and if it doesn't work for you, the Swift LT and the Opus are other options in nasal pillow masks.

Maybe get some zip-ties and just tighten it in place? That may help, and isn't a permanent change like gorilla glue.

Does a hose hanger work for a tummy sleeper?
I'm not sure how that would work.
But, I suppose it's worth a shot.

I was a chronic position changer, and could never get comfortable in a bed with the mask on.

I switched to sleeping in a recliner, and this has stopped me moving around a lot, (I mainly did it to see if it would help with my GORD stuff, which it does a lot.)

I don't get as many apneas in the recliner as I do flat on my back..

How much do you actually move?

The whole thing works marvelously but I'm likely not thrashing about as much
as you. The Hose Buddy post is height adjustable as well as swiveling about
so basically if you stay pretty much on your side of the bed you should be fine

Do you know how to dance?

"Sleep moves" don't take much foot work, but they can require a lot of coordination when you are sleeping with a "partner."

You need to accept that the skinny hose wrapped around you is your "partner" in the "sleep dance."

At first this may sound totally silly, but bare with me.

To prepare your "partner" for the "dance" you need to find an old tee shirt. You will also need to come up with a way to fasten the tee shirt to the hose.

Next, you need to lay down in bed while you are awake. Get comfortable on your side. Snuggle up to the hose.

Are you comfortable?

Note where your hose is and pick a spot to fasten the tee shirt to. This will give you a handle of sorts to keep track of your partner during your "dance of sleep."

To fasten the tee shirt to your hose you can use velcro, tape, or just tie it in a knot.

All right. Now that we have that side done, roll over to your other side. Don't forget your "partner." Remember it is your job to lead your "partner" with grace and fluid momentum. OK, how does this side match up to the other side.

OK, now roll over to the first side and practice your "step."

Now you need to pause and lay on your back, then roll over to your stomach. All this time be mindful of your "partner."

Once you have the basic moves down, you will need to practice and practice and practice. Before long, you will be in the finals.

Sleep dancing is closer to ballroom swirling than a jive-ass stop, but there is plenty of room for your individual interpretation and creativity.

If you fight your hose and mask, you will loose and end up without restful sleep. If you embrace your hose and mask, you may be surprised at how wonderful "sleep dancing" can be.
