Its been a while since I last checked in and just passed my 1 year on xPAP so I wanted to update all those on the forum that helped me get as far as I did. I have not forgotten you all but rather have been kept very busy at work now that I have the energy and clear thinking.
I have found that my apnea is somewhat positional, with a typical AHI of 0.7 when sleeping on my side, and an AHI of 1.5 to 2.0 when sleeping mostly on my back. Oddly enough I seem to have more problems with aerophagia when on my side than I do on my back.
I received a Zeo Bedside for Xmas and have been tracking my sleep levels since then. The Zeo has shown me that my sleep is more fragmented (awakenings of 7-10) than it should be and I don't think there is enough deep sleep (approx. 25 minutes) most nights with me sleeping between 6 and 8 hours (averaging at 6.5 hours).
Anything is an improvement over what I started at with an AHI of 119 during my initial sleep study and absolutely no REM or deep sleep during the more than 5 hours I slept there.
I certainly have much more energy than I have in years and most days feel quite well. I do see some correlation with the nights Zeo shows that I have more awakenings or less deep sleep compared with how I feel the next day but am still gathering information on that.

Sounds good! My apnea is positional too, better on my side or tummy than on my back. If I roll onto my back, esp. during REM, I have events galore! I find the Zeo helpful too. Another view of our challenge, more pieces of our personal puzzles.I certainly have much more energy than I have in years and most days feel quite well.

Re: 1 year update
When I first started out on C-Pap treatment I slept on my back. As I got heavier and heavier I could only sleep on my back. Over the past year I have been losing weight (well over 100lbs.) I sleep on my back most of the time due to my back injuries and I need to lay flat. But here lately I have been sleeping on my left side more often than not. My AHI readings have always been low when I sleep on my back I will hve to look and see what they are when I sleep on my side.
