New user intro/help

Post by t00fan » Wed Jan 04, 2012 1:01 pm

Hi,

New CPAP user. Diagnosed with OSA with AHI of 41 couple of weeks ago. Got my machine last week. with pressure of 4 - 10. I am adjusting to it quite nicely, and I dont see it (wearing the mask) as a problem. I actually look forward to sleeping at night with the mask, and waking up refreshed. I also have gout, and I'm looking forward to some benefits on that front as well. I suspect i've had SA for quite some time now, so there is quite some sleep debt that needs to be paid. But I am already feeling refreshed, and can actually keep myself awake in the afternoons at work

I have the F&P Sleepstyle 254 machine with the Swift FX nasal pillow mask. I cannot find the software (performancemaximizer) to save my life. I have searched google, and i've searched the forums. There are plenty of folks that have mentioned that it "can be had", but no ways of doing it. Please help.

Thanks,
D

Sorry I don't know about the software, but welcome the forum. Glad you're doing so well.

Fisher & Paykel software is tough to find in the US. They are a New Zealand based company. My wife briefly had an a Fisher & Paykel ICON machine until she walked into the sleep doctors office, handed them the USB stick and the nurse said "What's that, we told you to bring in your machines card" after a few minutes back and forth explaining to the nurse what machine she got and a few funny looks later, she ended up with a a Phillips machine that the doctor's office had software for.

I looked and looked for the ICON software, which are Fisher & Paykel newer models and I could not find that here either. I have heard that you can get it from Australia, as I have some friends over there and Fisher & Paykel is really common there.

My understanding is that with a physician's RX or order that the Performance Maximizer software is available for purchase from a DME. At least that is the way it used to be after the public open sale to patients was stopped. Have you asked your DME for the software?

I know one or 2 members who use this software. I remember the name of one and I will send you his screen ID name in a bit. He is not very active on the forum though so I don't know how soon he might read a note from you. He hints in his board posts to look for how to get it in his posts but I wasn't able to find it in any of his posts that I read.

Hiyas t00fan and welcome. I too have gout and noticed it can be a symptom of OSA. It seems some places recognize it and some do not. I am on alopurinol daily to keep it under control and im interested if you see any relief with xpap.

I found that thread also but when I went to cpapshop.com.au (in Australia) the only thing they offered was $39 for the Compliance Maximizer software....I could not find Performance Maximizer being offered at all. I could have missed it though.
Here is link http://www.cpapshop.com.au/CPAP-Parts-& ... index.html

When Phred posted in that thread it is possible that Performance Maximizer was available.
Compliance Maximizer is NOT the same as Performance Maximizer.
