Re: Asthma Problems
1. See your doctor.
2. Take your prescribed meds.
3. Request and attend an asthma education program so that you understand how to keep your asthma under control.
4. Eliminate wheat (and preferably all other grains) from your diet as wheat my be the underlying cause of the autoimmune response that causes asthma AND you will also lose weight which may help too.
5. Use your CPAP every time you sleep always.

Re: Asthma Problems
I have had asthma for 35 years now and I still don't think there is a cure. You can however control the problem with medication. The biggest problem is some people wont take the preventative medication that is prescribed to them. Its up to you. Good luck.

Re: Asthma Problems
how can you avoid asthma headaches?
are antibiotics like azithromycin a possible asthma cure? some studies show that they have been effective against asthma

Re: Asthma Problems
I've worked in allergy and asthma research for almost 25 years. I've yet to hear of a real cure for asthma. Azithromycin ("Zithromax" is the brand name) has recently shown some effectiveness in preventing exacerbations for people with COPD. I don't recall anything about asthma, unless it's treatment of an underlying pulmonary infection.sickwithapnea17 wrote:are antibiotics like azithromycin a possible asthma cure? some studies show that they have been effective against asthma

this is from a Spanish researcher and also independently Dr. Hahn of the University of Wisconsin has written about azithromycin as an asthma treatment. Apparently these macrolide drugs like azithromycin or emycin are effective against asthma in some cases like adult onset asthma soon after development of asthma. The studies seem to indicate that it is the 13 or 14 carbon drugs like amycin which can treat asthma and azithromycin may have anti inflammatory compounds
However these drugs may cause antibiotic resistant infections in the long term- they may also alter the balance of bacteria in the gut flora and change the immune system.
it seems like there could be a breakthrough and whoever cures asthma could win the nobel prize
"The intimate mechanism by which this blocking of
bacterial protein synthesis takes place differs among the
different drug groups. In the group with 16 carbon atoms,
the peptidyl transferase reactions of the ribosome are
inhibited, while in the case of the group with 14 carbon
atoms peptidyl transferase-RNA translocation is inhibited. 5
In this way amino acid transfer during development of the
new peptide is interfered with."

Re: Asthma Problems
I don't know about it as an asthma cure. But I have asthma and I ask for Zithromax if I get bronchitis. Not only does it get rid of it but it has this wonderful side effect of drying out your sinus drainage which, in me, is the root cause of a cold developing into bronchitis in the first place. Since ASV therapy, I have had colds and at the moment, a month of sinusitis but no more bronchitis. Yay.howkim wrote:I've worked in allergy and asthma research for almost 25 years. Re: Asthma Problems
I'm curious have you noticed long term improvements in your lung function after taking zithromax?
I seem to have some after taking it for 6 weeks like in my PFT FEV1 scores
the drug companies have an interest in not pursuing this or studying the anti inflammatory properties of amycin because they may make billions on asthma meds
