Question for RVer's with CPAP's
My wife and I are about to take an RV trip to the South East, Up the East Coast to Maryland and back home to California, about 6 weeks travel. Question to all you RVer's with CPAP machines, how do you hook yours up for your RV excursions when you don't have access to shore power? Appreciate andy advice. Happy Holidays to all.
Re: Question for RVer's with CPAP's
I am an rv'r in my motorhome. I carry a 12 volt deep cycle marine battery and inverter...just in case I am in a campground with no shore power. Have had to use it a few times over the past year and a half. I have gotten 4 nights in a row on my set up..just don't use the humidifier. There has been tons of discussion on several different threads here..just do a search on battery power and you will get more results and info than you need. Each machine requires a different configuration, so do read up on what others have done.
Happy camping and merrry Christmas

Re: Question for RVer's with CPAP's
Thanks Nan for the input. I have two deep cycle batteries as house batteries and can charge them while driving down the highway. My plan is to run a cord from a fused 12v ouput of the power panel up to the cabover and install a lighter plug. That way I can use the 12v cord that came with the unit and as long as I can get a full night out of the batteries I should be good. I just wanted to find out how others have lashed their machines up. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!

Remember to use a heavier gauge wire for longer runs of D/C, but still use a small fuse at the battery. For a XPAP a 16 guage Extention cord should be high enougn for most runs and a 5 amp fuse. Using too low a guage of wire can cause a voltage drop, the fuse is for safety to protect the wire, even a 14 guage wire would be even better. JimAir Force Retired wrote:Thanks Nan for the input.
