Wearing reading glasses with full face cpap mask
Wearing reading glasses with full face cpap mask
I wear a Respironics full face CPAP mask.
I would like to be able to wear my reading glasses while wearing the mask.
However, the mask covers the bridge of my nose and my glasses won't fit over the mask so I can use the glasses to read a book.
Does anyone know of an Optician or anyone who designs or adapts eyeglasses to fit over full face CPAP masks?
Thanks very much.

You don't have to wear that mask, get another that will allow you to wear your glasses. If you are a mouth breather like I am, try the Respcare/Innomed Hybrid mask, there is nothing on the bridge of your nose. I'm as blind as a bat without my glasses and this is the mask that works best for me. It is cheaper to change masks than it is to change glasses .

I think you would do much better, and cheaper, to get a Hybrid mask <https://www.cpap.com/cpap-masks/hybrid-cpap-mask.php>. You would then have a spare mask, and you might even like it. If you search the website you'll find many threads discussing the various hybrids. Good Luck, and...RedSunn wrote:I wear a Respironics full face CPAP mask.

IF you ever can skip the FFM requirement (mouthbreathing?) you could try SleepWeaver by Circadiance. Sometimes challenging to get leaks mastered, but the most comfortable with our without eyeglasses.

If you are reading in bed or watching TV...why do you need your mask on. Put the mask on when you are ready for sleep.

I agree with everyone here. Trying a hybrid mask or nasal pillows will allow you to wear your glasses and read or watch TV before you fall asleep.

Re: Wearing reading glasses with full face cpap mask
I am curious about the need for glasses with a mask. Is it to see something about the mask when it's on or is it for reading or watching tv? I can't imagine having the mask going when reading or watching tv but I did recently make note of the fact that I could wear glasses if I got the Swift FX in case I needed it for seeing how the mask fit etc.
Just want to know what I am missing....nosy here.

Nan, I was looking at that mask. Can you explain what they mean by "adjustable pillows"? Do they swivel or pivot, or do they mean the size is adjustable? I am confused. I started mouth breathing about 6 months in and I need to do something.nanwilson wrote:Red

LSAT, my O2 drops as soon as I lay down to read or watch tv. Just having my head tilted forward I guess. But I mask up as soon as I get in bed. Wish I didn't have too.LSAT wrote:If you are reading in bed or watching TV...why do you need your mask on. Put the mask on when you are ready for sleep.

Take a look at the video for that mask, I believe you can catch it on cpap.com too. What it means in a nutshell is that there are 3 sizes of nasal pillows, 3 sizes of cushions and 2 levels of pillow placement...and even if you have two different sizes of nares you can cut the little strap in the middle to put on two different sizes of pillows at once. Thus...9 different configurations with this mask. Just love this mask so much I have accumulated 3 of them plus 2 spare sets of pillows and cushions .
Cheers
Nan

If I am wearing my mask while lying in bed at night, I sometimes fall asleep. If I already have my mask on it's no problem. That includes dozing. I already put the mask on when I'm ready for sleep.LSAT wrote:If you are reading in bed or watching TV...why do you need your mask on. Put the mask on when you are ready for sleep.

No problem. Nosy is ok.Elle wrote:I am curious about the need for glasses with a mask. Is it to see something about the mask when it's on or is it for reading or watching tv? When I am reading, I sometimes doze off or fall asleep...and sleep for a couple hours without my mask on. If I already have my mask on...and fall asleep...no problem. Then, if I wake up, all I have to do is shut off the light and I haven't experienced apnea problems.
Thanks

They look strange when left open and with a mask, but work for me.

Re: Wearing reading glasses with full face cpap mask
You might try looking through the frame styles at zenni.com. They're cheap enough to experiment with, especially if they're single vision reading glasses.
Or buy a pair and figure out how to mount the lenses over your mask somehow. I did a little experimentation, and I can see pretty well with my reading glasses if I put them on over my full face mask. It looks weird and I can only see a smaller area. I'd also need to somehow figure out how to hold them on with string or something.
Luckily, my glasses fit pretty well under my normal nasal mask.
