Newbie from NC here

Post by lunatech » Tue Dec 13, 2011 7:46 pm

Well, this is my going to be my first night with the CPAP machine. Did the final sleep study last night and got the unit this morning. Hope this works as good for me as it has for most of you all. Anyway, just wanted to stop in and say hey. I've got A LOT of learning to do.

Why did you choose the pink machine?

Have you downloaded the software so you can see what is going on while you sleep?

I didn't. I guess I shouldn't fill out some of this stuff half asleep. I've changed it.
What software should I download?

I figured as much, but never want to miss a chance to rib a guy about that.

You can download a copy of the s/w from the ResMed site - http://www.resmed.com/int/assets/html/s ... ister.html

Once I learned what the data means I never wanted to do without the s/w again.

ResScan Tutorial here http://montfordhouse.com/cpap/resscan_tutorial/

If your computer is a Mac you might want to try SleepyHead since it will work with Resmed machines as well ast Respironics System One machines and has a Mac version (ResScan is Windows based)

Thanks for all the info and download link. Should be interesting what I find out. Downloading and looking at the ResScan Tutorial now.
The first night went better than I expected. It may be due the fact I was wiped out from the sleep study. I don't understand how they can get accurate results hooking you up to 500 feet of wire, putting a pressurized mask on your face and telling you to sleep normal. At one point during the night I think the lady monitoring me was either trying to see if she could get the mask to levitate off my face or see if she could blow me up like a balloon. My sleep study was on over two weeks, one day each week, and I didn't sleep much at either one. But like I said, the first night with the new machine was much better than I expected.

They don't always get the best data. But with your machine and the software, you will be able to fine tune it. It really isn't rocket science. Request copies of your full study reports with condensed graphs for all studies from the sleep lab and you will be able to see what they accomplished and how they determined the settings for your prescription. It's pretty interesting data. It will help you going forward.
