Pros and Cons re: hose management

Post by Riverlea » Wed Dec 07, 2011 9:38 am

I'm considering getting a hose management system, primarily because the vent on my nasal pillows is noisy and blows cold air. I'm wondering what systems people have had luck with - or bad luck with. Seems to me that if there's too sharp an angle from the mask up to the hose manager, the hose could 'lift' the mask and cause leaks. Any advice?

Your hose will still blow air with or without a hose management system. But a hose management system is great to keep the hose away from you. I use a wall plant hanger screwed to the headboard and I route my hose along the top of my headboard to the hanger and then down to my face. I have enough hose hanging to keep it from tugging on my mask when I roll over. I only paid a $1 for the hanger at the dollar store, much cheaper than a system. If you do a search on hose hanger....you will find tons of ideas and pictures from other members.
Cheers and welcome to the land of hose heads

i have considered a hose management system (hms), but since i am now sleeping much more soundly with cpap success, i only roll a couple of times during the night and just seem to be able to manage getting the darn thing out of the way without too much disruption.

i do sleep with bare arms and do not like the occasional exhaust breeze blowing a cold wind onto my arms. just bury under the covers.

Because I don't want to put any holes in my headboard, I use a 3M Command cord organizer http://www.command.com/wps/portal/3M/en ... WMHBDJXSbl, which is attached using one of those strips that don't harm the surface and can be removed if necessary.

I made a fleece cover for just the section of hose that was banging against the headboard every time I moved, which stopped the noise completely. The fleece cover passes through the cord organizer so stays in place.

Cheers,
xena
