How do I do downloads on these S8 II APAPs?
I have a Resmed S8 II Autoset (an APAP). I want to be able to do downloads for it, but I found out it does not have a chip I can remove to load into an SD card reader? Is there any equipment I can buy anywhere to do downloads? I know it can be done because my DME did one back in October.
Also, the Resscan data cards that you slide into the back of the S8 APAPs. Are these good for just one use or can they be used repeatedly? And if they cannot be used more than once, where do I buy new ones at?
Thanks,
Richard

Card reader above is needed. DME can order them but only place now that the general public can find them is on EBay sellers outside the US. If you can get your DME to get you one that would be your best option but then they don't think we should use the software. So they might not want to help.
The ResScan Smart cards can be used multiple times. No limit as long as it is not damaged.
A person can make their own card reader with an ACR 38 card reader but it takes a very hard to find and special ACR 38 card (they aren't all the same).
Might send a PM to forum member Jay Aitchsee as he seems to know the ins and outs. Not just any ACR38U card will work.

Are the sellers that sell these Resscan data cards reliable? You say they are outside the USA and on ebay? Never ordered anything off of ebay before.
There are still plenty of S8s around in use in the USA. I dont see why some seller inside the USA does not sell them. <shrug?>

I do believe a couple of S8 users here on the forum have bought from the sellers on EBay. EBay is usually not a problem especially if seller have a history of lots of sales and good marks from buyers. I have bought lots of things over the years from EBay sellers. Never had a problem at all. I wouldn't be afraid to buy from a seller with good reviews with multiple sales.
I have seen the card readers from a seller in Israel and one in China.

Thanks! That makes me feel more confident about buying stuff off of e-bay. I buy lots of stuff online (including lots of stuff from the company that runs this site, but never bought from e-bay before. I have both an S9 APAP and an S8II APAP and downloading info for the two is completely different, much easier for the S9. Although I prefer the older S8II APAP as far as results, I dont know why.Pugsy wrote:I do believe a couple of S8 users here on the forum have bought from the sellers on EBay. Oh yeah, one more question. Does this Resmed S8 Rescan reader need some kind of special software? I already have the current Resmed Resscan software version 03.11.010 on my PC. Will that suffice for this S8 Resscan reader? Or do I need to order one that comes with some sort of software special for the S8 II APAP machines? I would go thru my DME btw, but they are so unreliable for most stuff other than mask replacements, hoses, filters that I dont even bother with my local DME for anything beyond those things.Pugsy wrote:I do believe a couple of S8 users here on the forum have bought from the sellers on EBay. You will need to load the driver unless you already loaded it when you installed Rescan. I have been trying to get a card reader for months now. It looks like Ebay is the only place to get them now. I tried one guy in Isreal and never got the card reader. Ebay did get me a full refund. I have really bad luck with Ebay. I am trying Ebay again now and hope this time it will arrive. If not the do have buyer protection so you will get your money back.ResMed S8 Autoset II Lover wrote:Oh yeah, one more question. Does this Resmed S8 Rescan reader need some kind of special software? Re: How do I do downloads on these S8 II APAPs?
Ticman, which Israel Seller did you have bad luck with? I see more than one offering the card reader. Would be nice to know which one to avoid if he is still listing the item.
To OP...as Ticman says your existing software version will work with the S8 but if you didn't download the driver software for the card reader (it is an option I think) then you will need to get the card reader driver software so that the software knows to look for the card reader and not the SD card. I don't know how much confusion that might create with the software if you should decided to use the S9 SD card though.
