S9 Still Noisy
S9 Still Noisy
I had posted earlier regarding a noise from my new S9, happening at the conclusion of each exhalation. It has never stopped doing this during the 30 days I have used it. I have tried the machine changing every function and variation listed on the clinical menu, to no avail. It is now making a two tier noise (bleep-bleep) like two musical notes; G and A for you musical types. To me, it sounds like some type of flapper valve operation in the air delivery circuit. If I exhale strong, the notes are longer in duration. It only starts this after a period of time, like 20 to 30 minutes. If I turn the machine off, waiting 30 seconds then turning it back on, it will be just fine until 30 minutes or so later. I have also turned off the auto humidifier, put on the standard hose, completely removed the humidifier, changing masks, trying it after each change, no help. This unit is a new replacement by the DME for the first machine, and it performs the same. The noise does not wake me up as it did previously. However, if I wake up, and it starts, I can't go back to sleep, so I turn it off momentarily. The DME doesn't have a clue. I e-mailed ResMed three days ago. No reply yet. Possibly held up by the weekend. It seems to start after the machine settles out, after I go to sleep and the pressures are stabilized. I don't know this for sure, just guessing. This thing is trolling for a job lining the dumster. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

Re: S9 Still Noisy
Call the DME and exchange it as faulty. It shouldn't be making those noises and you shouldn't change machine settings because of noise.

Re: S9 Still Noisy
The changes were not made because of the noise. The changes were made to determine if the noise was occuring in a particular mode. It's called problem host isolation and identification, or trouble shooting. Thanks for the advice.

Re: S9 Still Noisy
I have a new S9 Elite and it does make a slight noise when you breath out, not a loud noise, but you can hear it. The machine is so quiet otherwise I figured it was normal and most likely a valve of some sort relieving pressure upon exhale. Perhaps I should have mine replaced too?
Re: S9 Still Noisy
Bayrat, I think a replacement will probably make the same noise. This one is a replacement for the first one I obtained, a month ago. I am coming to the conclusion that it is a design noise and I will have to live with it.
