Resmed S8 AutoSet VS. Resmed S9 AutoSet
I've had both of these machines for about a year now. I know that Resmed has made changes to the S9 in their algorithms. On mine, I've noticed that the S9 does not nearly have as much Hypopneas as with the S8. But I've also noticed that the S9 reports a lot more AI's than the S8. Has anyone else noticed this? On the S8, a lot of times my AI is below 1.0 or a little over. My HI's are higher though. On the S9, my HI's a drastically lower but my AI's are usually between 2 and 4. Is this just the way the S9 algorithms decipher what is what or is it that my treatment isn't as good on the S9?

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

Re: Resmed S8 AutoSet VS. Resmed S9 AutoSet
I just finished my first 3 months on my S9 AutoSet after my S8. Differences:
Overall, I'd say my treatment with the S8 AutoSet was great and with the S9 excellent.
- AHI average: S8 1.5-2, S9 0.4 great numbers!
- AI average: S8 0-0.1, S9 0.2 interesting increase, usually clear airway events
- HI average: S8 0-2, S9 0-0.1 interesting change
- Pressure average: S8 10.5, S9 12.4 interesting 2 pt increase
- Mask leak average: S8 0-1.6, S9 0 less head movement, deeper sleep mayber?
Overall, I'd say my treatment with the S8 AutoSet was great and with the S9 excellent.

Re: Resmed S8 AutoSet VS. Resmed S9 AutoSet
Thanks for sharing Muse-Inc.!! I don't know why my numbers are so different from the S8 to the S9. Settings are all the same. I know that the S9 changed their algorithm so that its doesn't report so many HI's. But in my case, it not only decreases my HI's but increases my AI's. With my S8, I almost always have 1.0 or less for AI. On my S9, its always between 2 and 4. Does this happen to anyone else or is it just me?? The only thing that I can think of that is different is that I'm using my heated hose on the S9 and maybe the extra heat and humidity does something to me...not sure. On the S8, I have my humidity set at 1.5. Any thoughts?

Could be the S9 is more sensitive in reporting AI than the S8. I almost never had AI using the S8, using the S9 I do. Likely there were always there remember a certain number of AI is normal for anyone and the S9 detects them.

Get SleepyHead or use your Resscan and look at your hyponeas. How "real," how long, and how severe do they look to be. All apneas are not the same. A 120 second apnea does a lot more damage to your than an 11 second apnea. One where you completely stop breathing is much worse than one where you still breathe a little.
