That is awesome... and at the same time a bit creepy.

I used to kiss DH to stop his snoring or to get him breathing again.
To think he could have died!

Creepy more than awesome. But then, I'm someone who is extremely and extraordinarily ticklish. I can only imagine what would happen to the poor bear if it "tickled" me in a very sensitive spot.

Why a polar bear???

I don't really see this as a viable treatment for apnea. It might work okay for snoring without apnea. But with apnea, part of the problem is with the frequent arousals. Although this product might reduce desats, it would actually contribute to arousals and decrease the quality of sleep.

That pulse ox is pretty cute, though. Pediatric units should consider something like that...

Yes, almost waking somebody many times a night doesn't make for restful sleep.

My wife sent me the link to this and wrote, "In case the CPAP machine doesn't work..." Ha! (Yes, she was joking)

I love how the sleeping guy is wearing a suit and tie.
I never would have made it without this forum.

Researchers from Waseda University recently unveiled an innovation at the International Robot Exhibition that can help control snoring. A robotic bear, which is used as a cushion, called Jukusui-Kun or “Deep Sleep,” gently urges snorers to turn over while they are resting. The device, upholstered in white, resembles a polar bear laying on its back with “arms” outstretched. The user rests their head on the bear’s stomach.
