Travel with CPAP

Post by sleepyvetech » Wed Nov 16, 2011 10:08 am

Quick question. I am going on vacation to Cabo san Lucas in 3 weeks. I plan on carrying on m CPAP. Lord knows I don't want to be without it!! My question is regarding distilled h2o for my humidifier. Does anyone know if it's readily available?

I don't know for sure, never been to Cabo, but I would check supermarket or drug stores there for distilled water. If you cannot find it, use bottled drinking water.

Couldn't tell you, but I wouldn't lug water around. Regular tap water, on a limited basis, won't hurt. Enjoy your trip.... have one of those drinks with the funny-little umbrellas in it!

Whatever you do, don't use tap water in Mexico. (I wouldn't drink it, either).

Common automotive batteries must have distilled water unless you can afford to replace them very early.
Any place that does car repair will know where to get distilled water.

You can also try calling ahead to the hotel and see if they can have some there for you when you arrive. If it's a time share thing you may be able to get ahold of the management and ask about it.

Good idea to call ahead to the hotel---my CPAP consultant says you can use bottled water, just don't use the tap in another country. Also, be sure to have an extra hose and some duct tape for any leaks in the mask or hose, plus correct electrical adaptors. An extension cord is helpful if the outlet is far from the bed.
