Hello, this is my maiden post.
I am recently diagnosed and will be purchasing my equipment without the benefit of insurance.
The DeVilbiss IntelliPAP Auto CPAP with SmartFlex, Humidifier, and Software is what I am condisering.
Is the software adequate and is machine workable?
I plan to use the benefits of this forum to adjust machine settings (there will be no DME), is this a huge mistake?
My prescription call for : CPAP @ 9cm H2O, small true blue mask and heated humidifier.
Any thoughts of treatment, good place to purchase, etc. are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for any and all help and suggestions.
Fred

Mirning Fred
Your prescription reads 9 cm of pressure, that is where you should be. The Devilbis machine is a good one and is used by several of the forum members, I'm sure they will chime in shortly. It is an auto machine so if you set it at a low of 8 and a high of 12 to 13 you will be in your range for your Rx of 9.

Re: NEWBIE WITH MACHINE AND SOFTWARE QUESTIONS.
The machine is an excellent machine. Several forum members here do use it and the software. They can offer advice and suggestions to help you understand what it all means.
Unless you have some weird or unusual sleep apnea issues, problems or other health issues there is no reason why you can't self monitor.
I bought my own machine out of pocket also. I do use a DME for mask and supplies as I need them. DME would come in handy if you ended up having to try several masks and used their mask trial policy. But if you have great luck with first mask choice (I did) and/or you have other reasons for not using DME (extremely high insurance deductible or no insurance) there is no critical need to use a DME if you don't want to. It is not hard to figure all this out on your own if you are educated fully and comfortable with how you understand it.

Hi Fred and welcome to the forum.
Our hosts, cpap.com, would be an excellent place to order from. I've always had fantastic service from them.
I bought my current machine out of pocket from there because I didn't want the hassle of a DME. I buy my supplies from there as well.
You can choose "mask insurance" when you buy masks from them. I did when I decided to try pillows, but I love my pillows and I didn't have to use the insurance.

| Additional Comments: Pressure is 11-14. Old CPAP was a Resmed S6 Lightweight. Also have Profile lite mask. ResScan is actually version 3.14. Now I use Sleepyhead. |

Well I pulled the trigger.
I ordered The DeVilbiss IntelliPAP Auto CPAP with SmartFlex, Humidifier, and Software from CPAP.com. If I will be using the resources of this web site I might as well buy from them as well.
Thanks again

Re: NEWBIE WITH MACHINE AND SOFTWARE QUESTIONS.
Hi Fred.... and welcome to our DeVilbiss family on the forum. I hope you like your Intellipap as much as I and many others do. You should find it to be more than adequate to handle your therapy. The software is easy to use, but the initial set up and learning how to launch and upload is not explained well. I have a start up guide I wrote to help new Smart Link users get started so I will send you a PM in your inbox with a link to get that file from me. I also have the clinician's manual and a good explanatory doc from DeVilbiss on their machine/algorithm to help you understand those better. Check you inbox when you are notified you have a message....if you've not used that yet, you will see the User Control Panel link at the top left...and to the right is (# new messages). If you click on that new messages link when a # is showing, you will be taken to your inbox.
Since you've ordered your equipment, you can go ahead and click on User Control Panel....Profile.....Edit Equipment and choose your stuff from the pull down menus. Then choose to show them in TEXT, not pictures. That puts your gear in your posts automatically like mine below.

Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.
