I've been using cpap for about 8 months and after about two hours I take my mask
My pressure is set on 10 cm and epr is on three
And don't remember doing it so I went to my sleep doctor and he did a auto titration
For two weeks and i sleep the whole night great and felt great In the am but now that
Results came back and pressure stayed the same 10 cm but now that I'm back on straight
Cpap I'm back to waking up after two hours and taking mask off auto cpap was set to 4cm
To 13 cm why is this going on please help

Re: HELP
Instead of trying to explain why you don't seem to do well on straight CPAP, you ought to be asking your doc to write a script for a APAP range since you WERE able to keep the mask on with APAP.chevyman7 wrote:I've been using cpap for about 8 months and after about two hours I take my mask

Re: HELP
W/o seeing the download printout from that auto pap we really can't answer your question.
One would think and expect that the sleep doctor recognized and understood the data from that printout and would then script your CPAP pressure setting accordingly. BUT - doctors don't walk on water, some graduated at the bottom of their class, sometimes things get lost in the dictation, translation; and sometimes the person setting the new pressure screws up.
W/your pressure set at 10 cms and your EPR set at 3 you are getting 7 cms of pressure for exhalation. W/that APAP set a 4 cms to 13 cms your exhalation and inhalation pressures could have been anywhere w/in that range, including almost the same pressure for exhalation as for inhalation.
Contact your doctor and tell him the STRIKING DIFFERENCE in your sleep between the CPAP at 10 w/3 EPR and the APAP set at 4 to 13 and ask that he switch you to the APAP permanently. You MIGHT get lucky. At the very least you will have made him aware that the change back to your CPAP has done no good at all.

Did you get your machine at the doctors office? Does he have a vested interest in the DME?Guest wrote:His reason for not writing the auto script was they

This is the spin my old school doctor gave me. I suspect he didn't want to take back a CPAP and poney up for an APAP and/or could not be bothered with re-billing the insurance for an APAP as medically necessary.
You could always purchase as S9 Autoset out of pocket in addition to following the doctors advice re the ENT.
You could have told your doctor to write a script for an S9 Autoset since the autoset can be run in CPAP only mode and you would have the advantages of the APAP should you need it for any reason in the future, such as home titration efforts etc. Also an APAP is billable on the same insurance code as a CPAP. The doctor really doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Re: HELP
You may need a different doctor.
It depends on your apnea events and their type.
All APAPs have CPAP mode, so you can switch;
and full data allows you to make informed choices;
--and see what events happen at what pressures.

Re: HELP
Go to cpap.com and find the page with the prescription form. Print it. Fill it out the way you want it. Take it to ANY doctor (or dentist) and get them to sign it. Buy your APAP from cpap.com or second wind and sell the other one.chevyman7 wrote:I would just buy a auto machine our of pocket
But after paying the large deductible for my
Last I can't see spending more
Make sure you get a fully data capable one (not and ESCAPE or a PLUS).
You might also point out to your doctor that an APAP worn all night is is much better then a CPAP worn only 2 hours, no matter what he thinks.
