What a great way of descirbing xPAP therapy. Puts it in a nutshell. Makes me want to use it as a motto!

I GUESS I AM STUCK FOR NOW UNTIL I CAN HAVE ANOTHER STUDY DONE. I HOPE PEOPLE KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO GET YOUR STUDY.GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CPAP. MARY

Judy Ann I've snored so loudly for so many years that I don't know when the apnea actually began but I was "officially" entered into the hose head club this June. SO grateful for this place and the wonders of a good nights sleep!
The first time I even knew I snored so loudly was the "hard way".... I was sharing a room with an "open wall" kind of like a cavernous warehouse dormitory of an old church building in Cuba. I was with one of the other women missionaries. My dh and some of the men were bunking in another room with an open ceiling quite a ways down the hall. I woke up at night thinking I heard our teenaged son yelling in his sleep. The next morning at the breakfast table I began to tease him about yelling in his sleep. One of the other men started laughing and said, "that wasn't HIM yelling, it was ME....I was saying 'someone PLEASE make her STOP!!!!!!!" The entire table burst out laughing (except me at first) and then my dh explained that he'd been having the walls shake at home from my snoring for YEARS....AARGH!!!!!!!!! That was back in 2000.

Guest,
OMG - why on earth didn't your DH tell you that you always snored? I have lived alone since 1981 so I had no one to tell me about snoring. I just began with the symptoms getting worse. Anxiety, heart pounding, extreme fatigue and high BP. I probably had it a lot longer too. I am just glad now that I found out and that I have Auto Pap to help me deal with it.
Mary,
You poor thing. What in the world did you doctor do with your records? I would be so upset with them. That is ridiculous. All the money that was paid for a sleep test, doctor appointments, equipment, etc. That is such a shame. Yes, Bonnie is so nice and I think I will enjoy doing business with them. They go over and beyond the call of the duty for you. I hope that eventually you can deal with them again. I would get a new doctor, that is for sure. My doctor is a Pulmonologist and very cooperative.
Here's wishing you a good night's sleep and peaceful dreams always,
Judy

I'm 54 so I guess I don't quite belong here yet although I'm getting there pretty fast. Just reading about life in a small town makes me so envious. I grew up on a farm outside of Canton, Texas. I miss it so much. The pace of life was so much slower and people actually listened long enough after the usual "How are you doing?" question to hear "how you were doing". People would wave at you as you drove down the road instead of making nasty gestures with their hands because you weren't going fast enough. I would love to move back to the country some day but I guess that won't happen because I married a city boy and the slow pace of country life drives him crazy so I'm stuck here in the middle of the Metroplex probably for the rest of my life. I can't complain too much though because my kids are grown now and I keep my grandson who is 3 months old while my daughter works. If I didn't live in the city, I couldn't keep him and he's the joy of my life. He's my second grand child. I have a granddaughter that's 14 years old but I don't get to see her much. My day begins at 5:35 a.m. I go to the next suburb next to me and pick my little Tooter Bug up and bring him back to my house in the middle of rush hour traffic on one of the busiest freeways in the Dallas area. He's so worth it though. I'm glad I started c-pap last November and was doing really well until about July of this year. Now, my nasal congestion is coming back and I have to use antihistimines every night. I had a deviated nasal septum fixed and turbinate reduction surgery and I had a cat scan of my sinuses done and they didn't find anything wrong. I also had allergy tests done and they showed that I didn't have any major allergies. I wonder what makes me sneeze then. My quesiton is this. I take Coricidin HP antihistimines at night for nasal congestion. Does anybody know if taking antihitimines every night on a long term basis is dangerous? Let me say that I know that probably almost all people out there aren't medical professionals so I don't expect any "professional advice". That hasn't gotten me too far anyway. My husband started a new job and we don't have health insurance anymore so I have to pay for everything out of pocket. Wow, $800 a month for $1,000 deductible insurance is just too much for us to pay. I would appreciate it if anybody knows anything and would share it with me.

Hi Tater Pie....you are another "young whipper snapper" like me...that is 54 (I'll be 54 in Nov) and the ladies on this thread have welcomed me. Sorry I don't have any info on taking those meds long term. When I have problems I tend to use something like saline spray which is not really a medication, to clear my nose. Also I don't normally eat dairy or grains, which cuts down on colds, sinus problems and allergies for me anyway.
BTW...I am the "guest" who talked about snoring loudly in Cuba. I guess my dh just thought it was something he had to live with and didn't realize it was a health problem.
Well, I think we all ought to have a hosehead pajama party at our fortunate friend's house who lives in a small town....Maybe if we promise to make breakfast??? You could bring your grandchild....I'm going to be a Grandma in April! I am one now, the baby just hasn't popped out yet, right?

Hey, all you young folks, Georgia Hosehead here. I'm a retiree, age 74, and I have been on CPAP for over 3.6 years. I have a Puritan Bennett 420e with a ResMed Activa mask and an Aussie heated hose. Three mornings a week on the treadmill is great for keeping the ol' ticker working. I recently had a follow-up with my sleep doc, and he was amazed at how well the APAP was working for me. I really appreciate this forum and cpap.com.
