New mask made a difference

Post by carojae » Sun Nov 06, 2011 9:26 pm

For over a year I used a comfort gel nasal mask. I thought it was top of the line, maybe it is but it was the source of much frustration for me trying to make my cpap machine work like I thought it should.

So, at the urging of my wife I finally called my cpap provider here and asked for help in getting a mask that maybe would fit better - the best thing I've done so far lol. I was asked a couple of questions to describe my leaking problem and it was suggested I try something else in the nasal line - EasyLIfe nasal mask. Wow! I got my EasyLife Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear and what a difference! I don't even have to ramp the machine anymore. I love it!

I know this is no startling revelation to some but I just thought I'd pass this along in case it seems hopeless to you. It could be something as simple as the mask. I always thought that the machine was part of the problem but it's not really. The mask change made such a difference. Sleep is good for the first time in years.

Congratulations! Finding the right mask is so important, but the current system does a terrible job at helping people do it.

I love my nasal pillows too, but I didn't even know they existed or how they were different to a nasal mask until I found this forum. The names sound too similar "nasal pillows" vs. "nasal mask".

Mask: Swift™ FX Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Headgear

Additional Comments: Pressure is 11-14. Old CPAP was a Resmed S6 Lightweight. Also have Profile lite mask. ResScan is actually version 3.14. Now I use Sleepyhead.

carojae,
Congrats on your new mask. I agree that the mask can make the biggest difference. The machine is secondary.IMO

I use the Easy Life Mask. I really like it now that I am used to even having a mask.
