Yeppers my average leaks are 50L/min which is what the leak rate should be for my mask at my pressures.

It is getting high. I see my sleep doc at the end of Nov so im holding off buying a machine until then incase he thinks i need a bipap instead of cpap for the increased pressures. But its a rare night I hit the 20 mark on a regular basis.
There have only been 2 nights ive had that issue and I could see I had leaks at the same time suggesting that was the reason it did it.

If I were going to need pressures in the 19 cm range I would want a BiPap or BiLevel machine.
The exhale ease is remarkable at those higher pressures.

It offers 1 setting for inhalation which is easy at any pressure and a more reduced exhale pressure to make it much easier to exhale against. Hugely more relief than you will see with ordinary APAP machine.

Choice is yours but if you can..I really suggest trying a BiPap machine (Respironics has BiPap) (ResMed's bilevel pressure machines are VPap) Unsure if F & P even offers Bilevels, if they do...then see if you can try one.

Much, much more comfortable to use. Of course they do cost more.

I dont actually have trouble exhaling. I did at first but im used to it already.

Id rather not have to have a more expensive machine if i dont have to as im paying for this out of pocket.

My doctor didn't believe me either but decided it was better to get tested than not.............when the results came in he came over to my house and apologized (we live about 4 blocks from each other). Happy to hear you are getting along so well Nichola.......way to go. You will have this therapy down pat in no time and well on your way to success.
Cheers
Nan

Well since you are adjusting well and happy with how things are...and out of pocket, I totally understand, then I am sure you will do fine. I mentioned it just in case there was a need.

Congrats! That is an awesome story! It reminded me to get in touch with the PA who suggested getting tested - and to give her a big thank you! Nothing beats acknowledging people who help you!

If it turns out you need a bi-level machine.... don't overlook the DeVilbiss model. It gets 5 stars on our host's site: https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/devil ... tcode.html Much less expensive than the other brands. Here's hoping you can manage with an apap!

is there a guiness book of records for highest AHI? this would surely be nominatable.

and with such reductions in O2 does that translate into a low oxygen environment, anti-oxidant for the body, lower degeneration of the genes and telomeres and a long life? ♫always look on the bright side of life♫ (and these little deaths that Apnea brings)

also, re Australian buying OS (like I did). it shouldn't void the warantee, just means you have to post it back to the US and then back again, perhaps to be told its not covered anyway depending on what's wrong with it (correct me if I am wrong about this). plus more time which means more for a hiring a replacement if you do that.

A pity that all major manufacturers dont do a Lenovo laptop warantee, which stays with the machine and has local depots for returns. getting off topic here though.

Hi,

Your story is so inspiring! Nice boss! I agree with the others, doctors just won't consider sleep apnea. I had a sleep study done years ago because I told my GP that I was waking up in a panic, gasping for air. The DME that did the testing called me and asked why I hadn't seen the sleep specialist. The GP just dismissed it, saying it wasn't too bad. So I went for years more, sliding into the murk, gaining weight, getting tireder and tireder. Then my dear husband encouraged me to talk to the Dr. again. This time I insisted that I felt I needed help and he referred me to the sleep specialist. Months later, after having jumped through all the hoops I have my treasured machine and am feeling more energy and other good stuff. I actually look forward to bedtime!! The light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train after all!!

Ann

I am struggling with back pain , not all the fault of the CPAP, but it must be related somehow. if not for this (and other joint pains) Id be sleeping like a baby. lower minimum CC's on auto helped with some of the knif in the shoulder pain (maybe ribs).

I berieve the back pain is mostly related to my LARGE body being in the same position for 8 hours... where as before i tossed and turned all night. The muscles become more relaxed as the days go on though... but i still have some aches
