Problems with nasal mask
Hi everyone. I'm now having some problems with nasal mask and the bridge of my nose. I should say that I also wear glasses. I'm not having pain but more like pressure from wearing glasses all day then slapping the mask on at night. I used nasal pillows (Opus worked really well for me) but I'm not able to get a new mask from my insurance company for another month and half. I won't last that long, last night I woke up and had taken my mask off in my sleep and I have never done that before.
I will have to buy the new mask OFP and am looking for the best price or if anyone has any suggestions on how to take some of the pressure off of the bridge of my nose. I find myself raising my glasses off of my face to keep the pressure off during the day.
Thanks for all of your help, this place is the best.

I don't understand. You used Opus 360 in the past and liked it? Where is it? Was it part of a mask trial? Did DME have you turn it in to try the over the nose Mirage FX which now bothers your nose?
Which mask are you wanting to purchase out of pocket?
Sorry for the questions but I am confused as to which mask you are wanting to purchase. Another nasal pillow type of mask or the Opus nasal pillows?

Re: Problems with nasal mask
Sorry for the confusion. When I got my equipment I got the ResMed nasal mask which up until a couple of weeks ago had been working wonderfully. But then I started to have the pressure problems so I went back to my sleep clinic and they loaned me two masks to try out, nasal pillows instead of the nasal mask.
The Opus nasal pillows seem to be the best fit. However since I am now past my 30 day trial my insurance won't purchase new masks for me another six weeks or so. I don't know if I can keep using the nasal mask since I am having those pressure issues and am looking to purchase a new mask out of pocket. Or if there are any suggestions for easing the pressure at the bridge of the nose for those of us who wear glasses as well as use nasal masks. I have tried adjusting the head gear thinking it might just be on too tight. I also find myself lowering the mask as much as I can so it rests lower on my nose.
I hope this clears up the muddled post.

Sorry, Mirage Nasal mask not Resmed...I'm tired and it's been a long day.
Re: Problems with nasal mask
I am sorry but I am no help as far as the over the nose mask. Never used one.
I was wondering if it was the Opus 360 you were considering buying. I checked EBay to see if any good deals there but none. Sometimes we can buy a couple of the replacement parts and put together a complete mask for less than online prices but no good deals. Cpap.com has the Opus for $82 might check with your DME to see if they can match that as a cash purchase.

Re: Problems with nasal mask
Hi Dark Matter,
I'm pretty new but have used a variety of masks. For bridge of nose issues, it's best to use a mask with an adjustable forehead pad. ComfortGel is an example.
They can change the pitch where the mask meets bridge of nose.
You are of the female persuasion? If you have a tiny face and think a Zest nasal petite might fit you, I have some I received with a used machine purchase. I could give you a fair price and a pay-me-when-you-can sort of deal. PM me. But these do not have an adjustable forehead pad. You just never can tell what will work till you try it.
Cheers,
Jamis

Re: Problems with nasal mask
I had a mirage mask that didn't have a forehead thing, for several years and it was a annoying and leaked a lot, but I didn't know any difference. About a year ago I tried a mask from http://www.cpaplibrary.com/mask-trials.html . They don't sell masks but they let you try them for a week for the price of postage both ways.
The new mask I got is a Mirage SoftGel, and it has a knob in the front that adjusts the weight on the nose bridge and upper lip. And it has the gel inside that helps more than I thought it would. I wish I switched masks a long time ago.

Re: Problems with nasal mask
If it's any help, I recently bought an Opus 360 from Amazon, price was about $56. This was a new mask, and I thought the price was great. You might check there.

Re: Problems with nasal mask
Thanks so much to everyone for all the great suggestions. I have borrowed an Opus 360 from my sleep clinic and they will let me use it until I can find a more reasonibly priced mask. I will check Amazon for sure and maybe local craigslist as well.
Thanks again and everyone have a good night!
