on-line DME recommendations wanted

Post by ejackson1200 » Thu Oct 20, 2011 11:08 am

Ok , I'm tired of talking with the local company who gave us a compliance data only machine when I asked for data capable about a year ago -I didn't know enough to check it - and never mentioned replacing mask/headgear/tubing which was 10 months old before I ASKED if we could try something diff as this one was leaking badly. (Swift nasal pillows-never replaced), Today they tell me we can not get a diff mask as we received our first replacement swift fx 2 months ago. (need to have a cancer growth removed from end of nose in the next week and so need something diff til that heals up.) Called my insurance who said that there is no time frame - it's all covered based on medical necessity and they understand people sometimes go through multiple masks before settling on what works best. They do limit the nasal pillows to TWO a MONTH!

So now I need some names of on-line companies that will deal with insurance as we've already met our $5,000.00 deductive. Ohio Medical Mutual seems to cover allot of companies, but lists them geographically, doesn't note internet companies, and will only give me the 50 closest, so I"ll just look up the names given here before calling them.

The DME operates out of my Dr's office but that doesn't mean they have to get my business.

My goal woudl be to get new headgear for the Quatro FX and the swift nasal in smalls as the meds are too stretched out-we rotate masks based on allergy issues and sore spots. Also the silicone pcs for both items in med.

Cpap.com is the owner of this forum........give them a look see. I think most of us have used them a time or two and had success with them.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

You want online supplier who will bill insurance for payment? Is that what I hear?
CPAP.com doesn't bill insurance for payment but will supply necessary paperwork to turn in to insurance company for reimbursement. Some insurance companies will recognize such an online provider and some won't.

There are some online suppliers that will bill insurance for payment but I have no idea how quickly they can get all the necessary paperwork together. One would just need to check with provider to see what all they require.

and of course this one that advertises on TV a lot.

There are probably others if you google for bill my insurance for cpap supplies.

If you are in Ohio, give Edgepark Medical a try. They are located in Cleveland and do Online ordering and work with a number of insurers. I use them and have been very pleased with same day shipments and the like.

Without seeming biased, but because of all I've read here - if it was me looking for an online DME, the owner of this forum would definitely be my first choice at https://www.cpap.com.

Why don't I use them? I'm lucky enough to have a superb XPAP supplier (I wrongly call them a DME supplier, but XPAP is ALL they do), which is 10 minutes from my home. However if I ever find I need to purchase outside of my usual supplier, this site would be it.

Cheers,
xena

I agree that cpap.com has great prices and good service. But Medicare complexities (if that is your coverage) make it especially hard for those desiring to self-submit for insurance payments. I've heard it can be done, but I've also heard that it's against medicare rules.

Americare and Liberty Medical are two that have received kudos here on the Forum.

I'm in the same situation. Fired my DME.

From 1800cpap.com: Currently, 1800CPAP.com does not bill insurance companies for purchases. However, we can provide you with the necessary information on your invoice that will allow you to file for reimbursement from your insurance company. Simply call us at 1-800-274-1366 and we wil step you through the process.
Maybe good service and good prices but according to their website...no insurance billing.

Check cpap.com prices. Your OOP (out-of-pocket) expense may be less even if they don't bill insurance. So be sure to compare and know your price threshold.

Good Luck

I used Americarecpap.com for a year until I found a good local DME to work with. I was very satisfied with Americarecpap and they do work with various insurance companies.
