I am new to this board and a new CPAP user (one month) and wanted to share a strange experience I had with my machine. Am wondering if others have had this happen. I have a Remstar System One Auto A-Flex (use Swift FX nasal pillows) and was initially set up with a pressure of 6 with the range being 6 to 12. After a couple weeks I noticed in the data window upon start up that it now said my pressure was 10. I didn't think too much about it and assumed that the machine did this automatically (although I didn't understand WHY except that I could tell my highest range during that time had been 9 something).
At my one month check up with the sleep dr. I told him about this and he said that should not be happening and had his tech look at it to reset it to 6. Well the tech couldn't do it and said no matter what she did, it did not reset to 6 so she referred me back to the DME. She had no clue. DME tech also was totally puzzled and couldn't change it so gave me a new machine. So that was good. Now after two weeks at 6 and then two weeks at 10, I am back to 6 and it seems kind of "weak" but I suppose that is just because I had gotten used to (or was TRYING to get used to!!) the 10 setting.
My point in sharing this is to warn people to be aware of the readings on their machines, understand what it is doing, and make sure it's right. If I had not said anything to the dr. this would not have been found and I'd still be struggling with a pressure of 10 thinking I had to do it, because they only looked at the data card and did not look at what the machine was set at. My data for the month was excellent - down to about 0-2 apneas so the dr. said I was doing fine!

Re: Strange Pressure Change
My M series did that and I found out it was a corrupted sd card. I loaned my machine to my neighbofur to test him and had been using the machine at straight 11. I set him up at 8 to 18, but every day when I checked it for him, it was back at 11. When I got the machine back, I changed the card and it let me set the pressure at whatever I wanted and it stayed there.
I would suspect that the machine the DME gave you may have been used and set to 10 and the sd card kept changing it back to the original setting. Just my 2 cents worth, you may or may not have had the same problem. Glad gthey gave you a new machine and it works fine.

Re: Strange Pressure Change
Good for you CatLady..Machine was faulty and your kind MD mad the attempt to correct and even the DME found it faulty.
Yes, I would imagine that the pressure of 6 feels weak compared to the 10, BUT the pressure of 6 is what is working miracles for you, not the 10
Good Luck..Sounds like you have a good handle on your therapy..
