Which strap would I adjust to try to help this situation? Here's a link to my mask https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... dgear.html

would it be the blue strap behind my head? or the strap around the top of my head? How do I really know whats tight enough? It honestly doesn't feel very tight already and I'm worried that I'll loosen it too much

My first thought would be the blue back strap because it provides forward to backwards tension. Top strap is mostly tension on the pillows themselves unless you happen to be wearing it farther back on the crown.

Will definitely give this a try tonight. Still open to any other tips or suggestions anyone has.

Thanks.

This happened to me too. I'm 3-1/2 weeks into therapy. I started with a FFM, and no sore teeth. But I figured out how to keep my tongue pushed up against the roof of my mouth (and back of my teeth) and that's when the soreness started. It's better this week--I think because I'm more relaxed about sleeping with the nasal pillows, and I don't have to think so hard and try so hard to keep my mouth sealed. Of course, if I get too relaxed about it, I'll probably have to learn to tape or use a chin strap--maybe a little extra focus leads to a positive outcome. I'd rather have sore teeth than spend another night in my FFM. I do plan to ask my dentist though!

After 2 more nights of sleep, and adjusting the mask, I still get the sore teeth. Although, I'm noticing that the soreness doesn't last as long. After the first few nights, my teeth would be sore for 2-3 hours after waking up...now its only about 1 hour. I'm not sure what to make of that - am I doing it less in my sleep, or just becoming more tolerant to the grinding? In any case, the mouthguard I purchased is supposed to come in today, so I'll start using that tonight. My chin strap should be in tomorrow, too.

Hopefully this isn't too much info, but this morning I noticed some drool on my pillow when I woke up. Does this mean that my mouth was wide open at some point last night? I ask because when I'm falling asleep, it kind of feels like the pressure from the CPAP can force some saliva out of the corner of my mouth.

Thanks again, everyone.

Hi cake,
Drool isn't a viable clue for mouth breathing. Your wife said she hasn't heard and leak noises, lip buzzing or anything...I seem to recall you said that. I just don't know why your teeth would hurt. Look at the edges for damage. And with bruxism, you probably would have jaw muscle soreness.

Just curious, which mouth guard did you buy? I just got my Pure Sleep anti-snoring guard yesterday. Haven't fitted it yet but hope it will help.

Hang in there...these are fairly minor issues and you should resolve them with time,
Jamis

This is the mouthguard that I purchased: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ELYIVM

Seems like you just boil and mold. It comes with 2 sets. Also has 100% moneyback guarantee. I'm really hoping this helps.

Sports department at WalMart, etc., has a selection of similiar mouthguards for around $3.95 each.

WalMart will take back just about anything and give you a full return. They will ask you why you are returning and like the lady told me, "I just ask because the form requires me to write down a reason for return."

Hi Cake321,
My point with the above quoted post was that if you get an anti-snoring oral appliance, then it serves two purposes. Holds your jaw a bit forward to minimize snoring (and may help with apnea) and will protect teeth from
bruxism. If all you want is to protect teeth, do as Nightmonkey says and buy a cheapo WalMart sports guard and return the one you bought.

No biggie, live and learn.

Do a search for oral appliances here and read some threads.

Take care,
Jamis
