Need Help Finding High Pressure Tolerant FF Mask

Post by BigEd » Fri Oct 07, 2011 8:11 am

I have been unable to find a full face mask that won't leak. My pressure is set at 17 and I must have a strange shaped face or something because I've tried mask after mask with no luck. I'm currently using the Softgel nasal mask and taping my mouth shut every night (insert joke here).

I know everyone's face is shaped is differently, but was wondering if anyone could recommend a FF mask that has worked for them with pressures in the 17+ range. It's time for a new mask and I'd love to find a ff solution and spare the nightly taping. Thanks.

You're right that everyone's face is shaped differently, but....

I use the F&P 431 FFM, with pressures of up to 20+. With me, the mask leaks terribly when on my back, but is very good if I'm on my side, which is how I sleep. I'm not supposed to sleep on my back anyway, so it works out well for me.

BigEd, I found the FitLife Total Face Mask to work well at high pressures. It is a large mask, but surprisingly comfortable. It's by Respironics and comes in two sizes. You would want a large.

I use the Resmed Mirage Quattro at 14-20cm pressure w/Padacheek mask liner + anti-leak strap and do well with it. On a bad night I might have 12L/min unintentional leak (which is still acceptable) but usually average between 0 and 8L/min. My pressure is often at or around 19cm (95% pressure) and those are my results.

Others have not been so lucky w/this mask but it is working for me.

Hi Ed,
Just in case a negative feedback might be useful...

The Respironics ComfortGel FF leaked alot for me at pressures above 15 unless I really cranked it tight (which as everyone knows, shouldn't be needed and is uncomfortable).

Hi Ed, I have a Quattro FFM and get very little leaking by using a Pad-a-cheek anti-leak strap (pressure of 18).
