Re: Just picked up my CPAP...
Thanks for the encouraging words.
My first night was a bit rough - as I expected. I spent my first hour with the machine turned off (thinking it was on) - doh! I was wondering why it didn't seem like much was going on.
Then, I fidgeted with the mask and tried to get comfortable for about 90 minutes. Gave up and took off the mask and slept for few hours. At 2 a.m., I put the mask back on and slept for a few hours (the machine display showed 4.5 hours). I plan to try to take a nap today if I can sneak one in.
I'll keep adding more time to the mask and will get used to it gradually. I actually do feel a bit more alert today, even though I didn't get my normal sleep - perhaps it was just a better quality sleep?

Yes it was due to those hours of REAL sleep. Can you imagine what you will feel like if you can manage to keep it on?djmdata wrote:T

Great that you got 4.5 hrs in with mask on. That 4.5 hrs probably was better quality sleep for you. Resist the urge to take the mask off. Don't want to get subconscious message that it is okay and more normal to sleep without it. Overall, great job.

Hi, and welcome to the forum. Out of curiosity, how did you end up with a full face mask? Seems like many newbies get handed them with no particular reason. Wish you success in your CPAP journey.djmdata wrote:Thanks for the encouraging words...

Re: Just picked up my CPAP...
Play with it before bedtime. Wear it watching tv, reading... Give yourself time to get used to it. If you feel like a nap and have the opportunity by all means take it, just use the machine. Best of luck. Let us know how it goes.

I am a "mouth breather" and would not do well with just the nose involved.n0hardmask wrote:Hi, and welcome to the forum. Out of curiosity, how did you end up with a full face mask? Seems like many newbies get handed them with no particular reason. Wish you success in your CPAP journey.
Re: Just picked up my CPAP...
Night 2 : 8.5 hours and only woke up twice. The second time I awoke to what sounded like a hurricane. It took a while to fall back to sleep at that high pressure, so I restarted to get the "ramp up".
So far, so good.

Re: Just picked up my CPAP...
Doing good there.
I noticed in one of your earlier posts that you thought you had the unit on but it wasn't. Do you have it set to start delivering air when it senses you have it on (I forget the official ResMed term) but there is a way to do that. Some like it, some don't. Beats having to remember to hit the button when you want it to start, but you need to then hit the button when you want to stop (it will stop on it's own if you take the mask off, but it delays about 5 seconds and throws my leak stats off).
Keep up the good work.

That setting seems to be set to "off". I'm OK just hitting the button when I'm ready to start/stop.Perrybucsdad wrote:Doing good there.

Re: Just picked up my CPAP...
You can hook up the mask to the hose ,set the unit to mask test. Turn the light off get in bed. The unit after about three minutes of leak testing goes into the set mode automatically, and the light goes out. This will let you know that there are no leaks .
With a full face mask the S9 won't start up automatically like it does for the other masks.
