very upset here
I was just informed yesterday , that medicare will not pay for my cpap unit
unless I go back in hospital and have a regular sleep study
I had a study back in 2001
then febuary 9th i had a ritritation, medicare claims I need another study without using the cpap , in order for them to see if they will pay for this machine
if I do not meet the requirements then they still will not pay for the machine.
the place my doctor was going to get the machine from wants 850.00 for it and I have no money
I told them the machine I am using now is not doing me any good anymore
has anyone ever had this problem?
I need help here

I understand you to say:
You just don't want a new test.
Is your machine still working, just not doing you any good?
If it is working, it is adjustable. Try playing with the output.
You may not need a new machine, just an adjustment in pressure.
What does your doctor say? He should be working with you.

Deedee,
If your old machine is still in working order, your DME should be able to adjust the pressure to the 9 you now need. All your DME will need is your doctors ok/prescription. The DME should be able to check your machine while you are there. If there is something wrong with the machine then you'll have a problem.
$850 for what type of machine? Remstar CPAP???

DeeDee,
Sounds like you DON'T need a new machine... just a pressure adjustment on the machine you have. Sleepylady is right, if you take your machine and your prescription to a local DME (Durable Medical Equipment supplier) they will be able to set the machine to 9cm very easily. You may need to call around to find one that will do it cheaply. You may even find a good DME that will do it for free.
Your circumstance is not as bad as you seem to be thinking. Many of us folks are left feeling un-helped as you are feeling. Keep your chin up and make a few phone calls. I bet you can be back on track in a day or two.

Maybe a translation is needed
Sometimes those thick Southern accents make it difficult to
understand. I can help translate the steps, if need be. (lol)
