With a nasal/pillow mask, if you open your mouth, will that be registered as a mask leak?
I woke up today with dry mouth, but the leak is within the mask's intended leak, and the graph looks like any other night, so wondering if it was dry because air was leaking through my mouth, or my mouth was just dry for some reason.
Thanks in advance =D.
If you open your mouth, does that count as leak?
Re: If you open your mouth, does that count as leak?
A short time period of open mouth might not register on the leak graph. It might be short and not register but still be enough to give you dry mouth. Especially if it occurs close to wake up time.
I have woke up in the middle of the night and I know my mouth was open (and a little dry) and a little mouth breathing going on for sure and checked my report and there simply wasn't anything showing up on the reports so I can only assume it was a very brief time. Even if it did show a rare blip in the leak line...I wouldn't worry as long as it was not prolonged or grossly huge.

I think you can leak enough air out of your mouth to dry it out without leaking enough to show up as significant on your leak data. Sometimes, I'll get "bubbles" where a little air builds up behind my lips and pops out every few seconds. I doubt this is enough to show up on my leak graphs.
Put your hand in the airstream of your exhale vent and feel how much air that is. Even a small fraction of that would probably dry your mouth out, but not show up in your leak numbers.
Mouth leaks do show up in your leak numbers. They just may not be noticeable if they're small.

Alright, thank you. I suppose if it happens occasionally, and the leak seems to be noticeable on the chart, I'll get a chinstrap or something.archangle wrote:Mouth leaks do show up in your leak numbers. They just may not be noticeable if they're small.
