S9 Data Card

Post by Britishbulldog » Wed Aug 24, 2011 12:03 am

Hi,

I took the data card from my S9 yesterday and downloaded it onto my comp , later last night i re-inserted the card into the machine and this comes up on the display -

INVALID SD CARD ERASE DATA YES/NO .

I have took the card out before and downloaded the data to the comp and never had this problem before .

My question is - What do i do or is it buy another sd card from Resmed.

Look forward to your replies ,

Regards,
Britishbulldog.

Just allow the S9 to erase the card. Nothing is lost since you have already downloaded the data and there is a backup on the machine!

do you happen to be on a Mac, using the software via a Parallels or VMware virtual windows box? I had this happen a LOT whenever I tried to do that.

Well, it's odd, but certainly not unheard of. If you got all the data off of it, then allowing the machine to reformat it is not going to hurt anything.

Do you engage the little lock tab on the side of the SD card before putting it into the PC? Some folks have reported that doing so keeps the error message away.

Are you using the original Resmed SD card?
If so bin it
Once i purchased a name brand card I've never had a problem.

Make sure you 'eject' the card properly instead of just pulling it out.

My S9 has never had a problem with the hidden files that Mac OS X puts on the card. You can always lock the card before you mount it on a Mac to avoid the addition of those hidden files. Just make sure you unlock the card before you put it back into your S9.

To eject the card from an S9, push the card in, let go, and the card pops out. To reinsert the card, push it in until it clicks and then let go.

You can use any SD or SDHC card of any size (The ResMed card is 1 Gb).
Formatting the card in your computer after downloading will solve most card related problems. This will erase all data from the card, but the compliance data will be rewritten once its placed back in the machine.

Back when I had the S9: Never had an issue with the hidden . files the Mac OS wrote to the disc.

But I did have this problem occur (repeatedly) when the PC that had my ResScan software on it picked up some virus/worm/other malicious malware. Once hubby diagnosed the problem as a sick PC and isolated and removed the offending malware, I never got the message again.

So it's worth checking the integrity of the computer system you're using to analyze the data.

Sounds like something got corrupted on the SD card. Like a previous posted said, lock the card next time you put it in the computer so nothing can be written to it. The "erase all data" option will reformat the card.

One thing that has puzzled me is, the first time I removed the card from the S9, there was a message displayed on the S9 warning me that the SD card was not installed. I've removed the card several times since then, but never saw that message again.

This happened to me once for no apparent reason. Since then, every time I remove the SD card, I lock it before reading it on the computer, then I unlock it before putting it back in the S9. Never happened again.
